Much as I admire the R34, my GT-R of choice would have to be a KPGC10...

I have one of those, Hakosuka to its fans, mine's been in the country just over a month & i'm loving it. As for the best GTR, it has to be Godzilla.....the R32.

Last time you mentioned it, you didn't ( wouldn't? ) answer any questions about it.

So, again, any more details about it? Model ( I'm guessing it's not actually a GT-R? ), colour, stock or modified, L-series engined GT-R lookalike?

Pictures, even?

I'm all ears.

R34 is still an epic car, if not as completely overengineered (the engine internals, chassis strength etc) and wonderful as the R33 before it. Have been in a 900bhp R33 GT-R and a 700bhp R33 GTS-T, I'd say that for drivers the involvement of the modified rwd GTS-T is the winner over the mind numbing speed of the 900bhp GT-R - it somehow seems more remote/distant from the occupants. The GTS-T does many track days, and is very very quick on laptimes. Have watched it absolutely butcher exotics on the straights, and on the bends be so completely flat and fast - all the while sounding fantastic with chatters and whistles and burbling and spitting flames on the overrun.... but the driver has to be quick with his reactions... it doesn't suffer fools..

nobodys mentioned skylineowners.com as yet no - tbh there is an air of snubbery around the GTR versus the GTS-T which alot of the guys on skylineowners.com own. I know this from 8 years+ of skyline ownership with 3 R33's under my belt. I owned a 33 gtst, then got a 33 gtr which was really nice and i now own a 33 gtst again. I prefer the lighter feel of the gtst over the heavy GTR.

With regards to the GTST its a really great daily driver regardless of which model you pickup 32 33 and/or 34. RWD, plenty of power to start with (altho not by todays standards really).. lots of scope for modification. The GTR purists claim they're not a skyline.. yet turn up at a track day in one and you'll find that the coaches tend to smile more when they're in one with you.

Interesting thread - all iterations of these are very popular in Oz as Jap imports - but Targa Tasmania results make you think a bit - there were GTRs in other years & Porsches every year - but.........
