The natural link has IMO always been Toyota. But don't hold your breath!

Lotus-Toyota? Ta daaaa!

NB: anyone who says that this is a Supra in drag will receive a firm glance in their general direction.

Precisely - it's been a long co-operation going back decades.

Everyday is a school day! Didnt realise that.

Would be ironic if the only new esprit available with the LFA engine (i can dream) was the Esprit Mansory edition. The purists would self combust.

That one is an Excel SE - slower and not as glammo as a late Esprit, but very fast, very handly, very practical, and a lot less trouble than any Esprit, early or late. You can buy a decent Excel for the cost of a tyre or two for a turbo Esprit. My classic Lotus expert mechs reckon that many early Esprits, and some late ones too, are right old bangers, but they love Excels and drive them themselves. I will still own an Esprit one day, but that is because I am wayward and wilful and have more money than sense.

A wayward spendthrift maybe, but any man that owns an Elan Plus 2 is ok in my book thumbup

It might be argued that i owe my very existence to the Plus 2, for it was the car my dad used to woo my mother when she was a shop floor sales assistant at m&s back in the day.

Those back seats do have their uses, it appears! Top story!

I collect the Plus 2 on Saturday morning, and am taking it to Silverstone to watch MX 5 races, parking up near the pit lane, hopefully, and hanging out with my friend's team at the garages. No track time for old heaps, as the race card is full, but it should be a fun outing.
