Sold my P1 WR late last year but it never seemed to grab me like my Integrale did for some reason, and i owned it for over 3 years.Couldn't live with the image at the end so i sold up.

Without a doubt one of, if not the most enjoyable ownership experiences ever. In 2001 I used to drive to Norwich every Monday morning in the early hours and I could do door to door (Manchester-Norwich) in less than 3 hours. The motorway M62/A1 was nothing spectacular but as soon as I came off the A1 at the A17 the car came alive and any traffic that was on the road at that time in the morning was dispatched with laughable ease.

It wasnt all good though. The finish of the Prodrive parts was shoddy to say the least. I had two bumper resprays and and new rear spoiler because of flaking paint and the tales of exploding engines were common place.

Its one of only two cars that I have regretted selling.

Ultimately I much preferred my Evo6 to the P1, its just felt a bit more special, not much in it pace wise, scooby felt quicker up to 60 due to the lag and EVO has more linear power delivery, but EVO was just that bit sharper.

Need to be aware of potential for rebuilds ... P1 is essentially a Jap STi Version 5 albeit with 2 doors (geeks will be along shortly to name the actual version) tweaked by by Prodrive. They didn't map it for UK fuel for some reason instead using "bricks" in the fuel tank which worked for a while albeit leading to engine issues over time. Rebuilt version is probably best bet.

I have read about this before - it sounds like a horrendous oversight!

Sold mine a long time ago. It was a license looser. Bonkers loud, but a lot of fun. Bad image though - I had it keyed in car parks twice and it was a £27k car at the time when I bought it. Strut brace helped it a lot, plus a few simple mods. I always wanted the 22b though...

Are the fog light covers aftermarket, optional extras or standard? Always wondered why some have them and others don't.

The covers were standard, the driving lamps (not fogs) were optional.

I've owned 2 P1's. I had the first one for a few years then thought I'd 'upgrade' to a 2003 WRX STI Type UK with PPP, which turned out to be quite dull in comparison. It felt far too soft, it wallowed over bumps and wasn't particularly earth shattering performance wise either. After a few weeks I traded it in for another P1 and was happy again. I don't have it now but wish I did, it was basic inside but was very quick. Even after long term ownership every squeeze of the throttle was a buzz and the pace of the thing never ceased to amaze!

Both of mine were solid, no rebuilds and both had clocked 60-70k by the time I moved them on, they were daily runners for me. I was very strict with servicing and always showed mechanical sympathy though, my second one has been rebuilt since I believe.

If I could have a car sat in the garage If would be another one of these....

That's my old car....Sold to Crossroads Subaru in 2009 to fund my wedding...!!!

Was completely awesome and except for a Haywood & Scott ss exhaust and some upgraded brakes it was standard.

Still have this picture as my screen saver would love to have it back. I sold it with 29,000 miles on the clock

Hand on heart, it's the best car I have ever owned. I bought her at 77k miles 8 years, countless track days and 125 laps of the 'Ring ago and she is now on 160k having never missed a beat. A superb engine in an astonishing chassis.

Lovely - mine's a w-reg and had 38k on the clock when i bought it from its first owner 6.5 years ago. Same as yours - Hayward and Scott exhaust and Prodrive big brake upgrade otherwise standard! and brilliant!

Lovely, had 4 scoobys including a P1, it will always be the best of the bunch in my eyes, totally regret selling it, later found out it was written off in Germany by the guy i sold it to. Goodbye No.638...

Owner of number 88 here. She is being upgraded at the moment. AP 6 pots, 6 speed box and sticker removal.

Have owned her for about 7 years now. Had a rebuild shortly after purchase (by Crossroads, also bought from there) and had been running fine ever since with massive abuse on the road, track and Ring. Been running over 400bhp for the last 4 years and apart from the MAF having a fit every now and then she has been spot on. Feels like the gearbox is wanting to fall apart at the moment but it has lasted a few years longer than I thought it would with this power.

Great car, wish I'd owned one pre children.

Sure they struggled selling the 2nd batch of these as they were late being launched and almost crossed over with the travesty that followed. Weren't there issues with the original optional Alcon brakes ruining the finish of the wheels as well?

Anyway future classic without a doubt.
