QUALITY SOTW!

THAT FRONT ON PHOTO WITH THE HEADLIGHTS UP PUTS IT UP THERE WITH THE COOLEST OF THE COOL.

NOT TOO KEEN ON THE ADVERT THOUGH, BUT IT WOULD APPEAR AN HONEST ENOUGH CAR. FOR UNDER A GRAND THOUGH ITS A STEAL AND WOULD SURELY BE BRILLIANT FOR THE UPCOMING TRACKDAY SEASON. STRIP IT OUT AND SELL THE NON ESSENTIAL PARTS FOR A BIT OF CASH, AND THEN SPEND THE MONEY ON A TRIP TO THE 'RING...

TEMPTED....

I've got one of these smile

SERIOUSLY under-rated car. Like said here before - tell me another rwd 2.0 sports car you can buy for a grand? Escort RS2000 isn't a bad comparison I'd say... Parts aren't that expensive - I bought a spare engine off ebay for £30. Because it's a VW collaboration there are very few Porsche specific parts. The ignition module is expensive and rare but other than that it's a good old girl.

I'd got for a 84/85 model to be honest. In lux spec with sunroof and Turbo style wheels smile
You can't go wrong smile

Looks very good. I still get suspicious when all the photos show the lights up but he says no faults, so that's good enough for me. I'd buy it.

after reading this thread over again there's a common theme, the fact that the 924 values may be stabilising, even may appreciate soon, I'll say one thing......914.......used to be claimed as a VW, slagged off then but now recognised as a classic and a brilliant handling sports car

Love it. Lots!

Anyone that knocks these really should drive one first, they feel great.

Only thing that puts me off is the overly pushy wheeler-dealer advert!

Always had a big big soft spot for the 924, the period colour really helps too.

never mind all this 'not a proper porsche' business, what RWD coupe from 70s/early 80s can you get in good useable condition for a grand? Capri? doubt it. MGBGT? maybe a very tatty one. Manta? doubt it. Anything Japanese? no chance
I ran an 80's RX7 for a year with no problems, it cost me £600.

I miss that car so much. Brave decision to buy it though, a 924 would be a safer option.

In my car dealing days i have had both the 924 and the 924S, the S had a lot more go, and enough power to have a bit more of a laugh with the RWD, if it were me i would look for an S.
Like that modded one!

very good. For those who grew up on fwd hatches, this car could really tech you things. They are lovely to drive. and they'll keep up with traffic, which is good enough. Put some good rubber on them and they'll have to work hard to kep up with you in the twistes

Bodyshells were fully galvanised
No they weren't.

Only the later (post 80 IIRC) were __fully_ galvanised.

Pre 80 they were only partially galvanised, and would rust like any other 80's car.

maybe I've miss read the post but I thought he was suggesting that this would be a contender for SOW when so far as I can see the reason it's on PK's is that it is SOW?

Is that really a selling point?
I laughed at that bit.

However, for 1k there can't be too many more interesting viable daily drivers. Like it

Was it here or in PPC I read that these are a lot less rot prone than 944s?
They're the same body shell, just the front wings and rear arches are wider on the 944. The capacity to rot is the same. A lot better than many 80's cars but plenty of cars with rot in them now.
