Effective for the few laps he has rubber I guess! Never seen anyone turn in so aggressively to unsettle the car like that (Well, intentionally anyway)! And he did saw a bit at the wheel out of some corners. Madman.

So are you putting 2 stroke oil in with the fuel or running the engine on the 2 stroke oil? I seem to remember we used to provide 5w30 mineral oil for rx8s at the dealers? I was told synthetic oil used to gum up all the ports? Or (if you're using 2 stroke as engine oil) is there some that is mineral?
one of the ways to make sure the engine rotor seals are well lubricated is to run about 150ml of decent 2 stroke oil in with a full tank of fuel something like motul 710, unlike engine oil this is designed to burn efficiently and doesnt gum the engine at all some people run double that ration on track and if i remem correctly petit racing did some tests with much higher levels of 2 stroke oil and actually got a 4 bhp gain. you add it as extra so the engine omp is still putting in the engine oil aswell smile
Interesting, Thanks Cyman smile

Slightly O/T BUT the Grp B RX7's from the early 80's [ish] has to be the noisiest car EVER. Watched one ditch-hook down a short 150m link straight [on the Tulip rally in 85] just before the next bend and disaster out it popped back onto the road. Who ever said keeping your boot in was wrong, the revs, oh the revs hehe

Is that the result of the Japanese drifting culture?

Really well held slides in the red RX8 Dale...pretty brave considering it's the 'Ring and it's wet! There's more than a few offs at that part of the track although it does lend itself to some sideways fun..;)

Junji's lap...well, it certainly shows how forgiving the RX8 can be!

By pure coincidence, I just got an RX8. 2006 and 35k miles. A trader mate of mine had it in and I couldn't say no.

Turns out it's a 190 not a full-blown 230 but it's simply brilliant, and at £3750 a complete steal.

Damn. I was painfully close to buying my first RX-8 last year and bottled it at the last minute because of the horror stories about reliability and it's furiously fast use of oil....upon reading this I am now regretting that decision frown
