Maybe I am only saying this because i live in Birmingham but the only problem I can see with this car thing is the lack of windows.

I'd give it a few days before some scrote throws a McDonalds milkshake through the open window whilst it was parked.

That is the reason I won't be getting one...
what makes you think they will wait till your parked!

The lease won't require a credit check either, just a 'trace' to make sure you are who you say you are.
Surely this cannot be right?

If it is, I don't understand why...?

Confuzzled.

Why are you confused? If you're buying/hiring the car then they presume you can afford to lease the battery too. Otherwise it's a bit useless.

Sorry, got the wrong end of the stick!

Thought you were saying that leasing the car as well required no credit check....I had visions of hundreds of these "disappearing" in council estates up and down the land :-)

I think this will be the very least or a pair of skinny legs hanging out of the window from some spotty faced kid who is trying to nick the thing. We'll have to wait and see.....

but at least you won't have to look far to find it, again.

It'll be 100 yrds up the road with a flat battery.

I Have just read that Renault is likely to introduce a 28mph-max Twizy 45 to the UK in 2013 in order to take advantage of a new light-vehicle category that will allow it to be driven by 16 year olds without a driving licence.
The Twizy 45 will cost around £6200.
I haven't heard of this proposed category, but children driving something without a license... - it wasn't announced on April 1st was it???

Otherwise the question obviously becomes one of whether you will be able to insure a 16 year old to be on the road for an annual cost much less than the 6 grand asking price of this rumoured baby Twizzy??
I didn't make it up rolleyes

No, more like fairground bumber cars that have arrived before the rest of the riggers have turned up!

I'd rather buy an old Isetta.
You probably wouldn't. I had one (and got married in it!) and if you want something really dangerous drive one of those. Cause a bit of a stir now though I reckon - and at least a lot of them were built in Brighton!

Here's mine...

Someone mentioned earlier that these can be worth up to 100% against your tax if used for business.

Just wanted to add that the same goes for motorbikes which is why my accountant was trying to convince me to dump my Street Triple and buy a £13k BMW R1200GS instead biggrin

Renault are offering people the chance to give these things a go for themselves.
