RE: Jaguar F-Type: confirmed
Discussion
I hope this car lives up to the name - if it looks like the concept (but without a roof) it should look good. If it drives as well as other recent Jags apparently do it should drive well. If it does both of these then it should live up to the name in my view.
Hope it sells really well too, would be great to see Jag replicating the success of sister co Land Rover.

Please, please let it have a normally aspirated V8 and look like it was intended to:
ETA Dull as a soft-top, are you kidding?
My thoughts exactly. I loved the concept and would have even bought one myself .ETA Dull as a soft-top, are you kidding?
Why do Jaguar always make more appealing concept cars than actual cars?
I'd be sorely tempted too if they made it faithful to the concept.

You'll be lucky to get a V6 in this era. If they intend to follow the future Boxter, then a turbo four pot may sell ok. Assuming Jaguar know how to make a car weigh less than Buckingham Palace. I am not convined on that one.
You mean the Jaguar that built the all aluminium XJ that's lighter than everything it its class? okie592 said:

I dare say they'll produce a coupe at some point. I think starting out with the drop-top is better from a marketing perspective because it gives a stronger impression that the car was designed with the lack of structural rigidity in mind from day one (whether it really was or not). If a company produces a tin top then takes the roof off, it will always be viewed as "dynamically compromised" in a way that doesn't seem to happen the other way around.
It certainly worked for Porsche with the Boxster/Cayman.
Valid point. There's also an historical precedent as the E-type was initially designed as a roadster. It certainly worked for Porsche with the Boxster/Cayman.
If it's even close to the Porsche in capabilities it will surely be a massive success.
The Porsche convertible has looks that only a mother could love.

Just checked. The 5.0 petrol XJ weighs less (at 1755kg) than the 5.0 petrol XF (at 1780kg) . That's awesome.
