I still miss my old XJR. From what I've read you can LPG the supercharged AJV8 provided you fit uprated valves which aren't exactly cheap. Overall cost means it only makes sense on a car you plan to rack some miles up in.

I want to own a black X308 XJR again one day. With the R1 package, cream interior and most importantly no leaper!

I know, the leaper is about the only thing on that particular example that kinda bugs me, spoils the lines.

Hmmmm... I think I'll hold out for the '06+ XK that I'd really prefer and go the whole LPG hog on that instead then (doing 20mpg sans LPG, at a rather optimistic fuel consumption rate at that, on a 300 mile a week commute would get rather pricey rather quickly I suspect - just worked it out, about £40 more a week than what I'm putting in at the moment, Rover or Alfa).

A 4.2 or 5.0 NA XK would be straightforward to convert.

I've just switched from a 2.5 V6 twin turbo on LPG to a 5.0 V8 on V Power. Fuel costs be damned, V8 all the way!

It doesn't exist, but this dodgy drawing gives an idea of what keeps going around my tiny brain.

Lotus inspired Ariel Nomad? You could simply reshell a Land Rover chassis with the plastic bits of the Elise. scratchchin
That would mean using the rather slow and poor-handling Land Rover underpinnings though.

Re-shelling a Baja Buggy or Trophy Truck chassis with the Lotus body, however....... scratchchin

Good to know that the 4.2 and 5 engines are somewhat rather more straight forward to convert mind, that kind of man maths I can get away with biggrin (now I just have to finish the work on my bungalow so I can start saving).

Not exactly a car, but...

I occasionally have a phase of wanting one of these, a Field Marshall tractor

I've long fancied the idea of a vintage tractor for shows, doing tractor-y stuff and general pottering about the village on. In the seas of Grey Fergies, Fords and Fordsons always lined up at shows, the Field Marshalls always stand out with their extremely unusual design, and anyone who has ever seen one running will remember the extremely idiosyncratic sound they make too - they have an air-cooled horizontal, single cylinder 2-stroke diesel engine with hot bulb ignition, and go thomp-thomp-thomp-thomp-thomp-thomp-thomp-thomp.....

there's currently one on eBay trying to tempt me:

Did a YT search for field marschall tractors. Thats quite the starting procedure biggrin Burning wad of paper and a blank shotgun cartridge.

I need something better than my A3 for doing massive mileage, and this is the only car I can find that ticks all the boxes

Crazy to think this shape is that old already.
I know, it hardly looks dated at all.

They do look like the ultimate big mileage motorway machine, well out of my price range though!

Can't believe how cheap they are, that looks absolutely belting as well.

Agreed, however it does need a new turbo.

Always wondered what one of these would be like. Seem to get rave reviews. Wife has a standard previous generation Swift and its a hoot to drive so I'm wondering if we should replace it with one of these when the time comes.
