New Scirocco. VW have updated the spec and the GT is now pretty much my perfect real world car.

Shame I don't have the money for a new car!

Really REALLY want one of these as my daily! Just gorgeous, especially with a tan interior.

Planning to get one for a song next year!

I think the sudden limp mode on the M62 was pretty bad. The power steering went. It shook a lot then lost it's power on the M1 on a cold winter night.
Oh, and the clutch was going, that's not it but I don't feel like going through all that. It was absolutely pathetic in the snow too!
Very nice car though!

It's all about luck, I know people with 159s that have never gone wrong and are always reliable, I might of just got unlucky. Only time I missed anything because of it was because of getting stuck in the snow.
If you're brave get one, it might be very reliable or it might not be!

I think I mentioned it in the previous thread, but I think the 2.4 diesel engines tend to be the least reliable of the bunch. My mate has a 2.4JTDm which has had quite a few problems, and it sounds like yours has too, carlove. On the other hand, my Dad's 159 with the 1.9 JTS has been absolutely flawless so far.

Just worth pointing out, because they really are very nice cars. I don't think you would regret getting one, MTR, unless of course it does have a few problems. smile

One of my colleague had a Brera. we work in the car basically so they need to be reliable. He suffered with it for 7-8 months then got rid. frown pity cos I would love a 159

I've heard the 2.4 is the least reliable, and the 1.9 JTDm being the best.
I originally went to look at a black 2.2JTS but it had sold and I really wanted a 159, the one I got looked lovely on the forecourt, red with tan leather, decent mileage and price, test drove it, bought it the same day, bit of a bad idea now I think about it! biggrin

I really wouldn't think twice about getting a petrol Alfa Romeo but a friend of my father in law recently paid a whopping bill for a new engine in his 159 JTD. Just outside of warranty age, Alfa Romeo would not help and he ended up footing the bill himself. Having had a ride in the car too, it was nothing special so I can imagine he was quite livid at being forced to pay so much just to keep the thing going.

Freudian iPhone mistype or a joke? hehe

It's a useful video. Thanks for the pointer. Still, I'll wait til I get the cash together and then try a test drive. The important thing to me is whether it's significantly different to punt the thing around B roads than an Octavia vRS... and I think that's something no one can tell me. I'll have to suss that bit out for myself. (Unless anyone else has driven both?)
roflrofl

It was a typo.

One of these on CSL style 19's. Cannot believe how much the price on these is dropping, do they explode every 6 seconds or something!?

It's painful to see the prices dropping.

They are amazing cars and I love mine.
Interesting... Will be keeping my eye firmly on these/the Roadster...
I do fancy a Coupe at somepoint, great value even at the moment. Great reliability bar a few niggles.

DON'T Ruin it and put CSL's on it though those BBS 5 spokes look terrific IMO.

They sure do smile

If the time comes, I'm not sure I could choose between the Roadster and Coupe... frown

Ps. I seem to have found your cars 'twin'.
