Non-R's a also better looking.
I think so too, I also very much prefer the 4.2 front bumper as well (the engine in my price range), the bumps on the 5.0 where the fogs had been spoil the lines for me. I like that colour (better than silver) but I'm a sucker for metallic Indigo Blue, though I'll settle for either Radiance red metallic or Emerald Fire, though at my price point it's whatever looks good on the MOT sheet (though I simply refuse to look at a black car again, ever). The car in the pic above has 111,000 on the clock at £10995-ish and MOT advisories for worn tyres, easy to do on larger tyres as I missed the wear on the Alfa's inside edge (fronts) with them being 19's (never got as far as the MOT though, picked them up on a service), I'm far more vigilant now. 3/4 of the way in cash, just got to get the Alfa MOT'd, some of the niggles sorted, sell it on and find a reputable source for the XK.
I much prefer the GranTurismo over the V8 Vantage personally. My budget could probably get me a clean 4.2 GranTurismo but that's also clean XKR 5.0 territory and I quite like those too. Only recently changed from a Lexus ISF to a modified Evo X and I want to take that to Nurburgring in spring so I'll see what my budget is like after then.

Now where's the like button? You Sir have a diverse taste I obsess about cars constantly, there's so many I would want to buy or try. Most of them realistic for me, I never dream about super cars.
Recently it's been a mixture....
- Fiat Panda Cross, if these were cheaper with low mileage I would snap one up for the girlfriend as her first car, I would love to go around the snowy country side in one of these.
- Lexus barges, I love the brand and if it wasn't for the high running costs I would be tempt ed by a Lexus as my next car. Either the IS250, IS220d, or the GS300. Loads of car for the money
- Audi A4 Avant, these are just so sexy and fit my requirements to cart around 2 kids, a baby, and a big dog. I like the old shape but don't fancy the hassle of maintaining, new shape too expensive with the 3 litre TDI Quattro engine I want.
- Golf R, Golf R Estate, Golf GTD, Golf GTD Estate, any one of these would be perfect for my needs (on paper), if I could convince myself to take on a 15 grand loan I would buy one. That would be a 7 year commitment, 200 a month. By end of it your 20 grand golf is worth what... 8? If lucky.
That's just Small taste of my recent car obsessions.

Funnily enough these have been on my mind recently. I'm partial to a small simple hatchback, and it's been a few years since I've had one. I don't really have any use for 4x4, and have never owned one, but for some reason I keep thinking it would be a laugh to have the Panda for when the snow arrives. Fabric said:

From what I've read when I've been dreaming the 4.2 is a bit weedy and suffers from low torque. The 4.7 is apparently much better. Utterly gorgeous cars though and definitely one of my dream motors.
There is a lack of initial "shove", but once you get going .... that noise, the looks you totally forget anything about torque / power, the 380 odd being perfectly adequate for road use.Mine will only ever be going for a V12V.

Yeah!! I went yesterday, it had a different tyre on each side (1x Bridgestone, Potenza, ContiSportContact, and budget), no oil, no service history apart from a MB health check done at 7k miles, and kerbed wheels.
The car was pretty mint otherwise, it was very very fast (5.4 seconds timed to 60 on Sport), and was a very nice place to be.
Walked away in the end, being faced with a £5000+ bill for my Audi..turns out I was sold a lemon. So that rules out any possobility of a buy right now.
Otherwise, i'm not prepared to blow £13000 on a 4 yr old 3.5 Petrol Merc with no service history.
I know this was back in August, but just posting in case anyone sees this. The car was pretty mint otherwise, it was very very fast (5.4 seconds timed to 60 on Sport), and was a very nice place to be.

No Mercs have a service book, all digital from around 2009, you can call any Merc dealers and they will email you over the service history. It is still amazing how many indi garages sell cars with no history when there is.
The Volvo garage I bought mine from said there was no history with my car, one phone call to Mercedes showed full history all on time and the last service was for £1700 only 2 months previously with things like all plugs, transmission fluid, brakes all round done etc. etc.
I'm sure many marques are now the same.
