Today, I've been mostly searching out classic beetles for a gap I need to fill in my garage. I'm thinking a (largely) depreciation free fixer-upper for several months of fun is the way to go.

Am I broken?

My dislike of modern Astons is partly down to this car.

Unapologetic, elitest, non-PC wonder wagon. A modern interpritation of a blower Bentley and built in a similar way by stunningly gifted people.

Aside from the slightly awkward moment when you have to pay the service bill, I can't see any reason for you to not PX the DB9 for it

I can see why it's your object of obsession, I had an MR2 Turbo and it was fantastic (in the dry).

2 reasons really. Firstly it's not a convertible, and secondly I suspect, as you say, the servicing or cost if anything goes wrong is eye watering!

I will have one someday though, and will be taking it to Works Service for the V600 upgrade evil

100k for that Aston, yes they are a rare car etc... but come on, if you want a V12 and a manual gearbox, Ferrari 575, job done. biggrin

Firstly that Aston is a V8 with twin superchargers, not a V8.

Secondly, I wouldn't own any Ferrari newer than the 355, and ideally it wouldn't be a manual, it's only because there is no option in the Aston that it would have to suffice.

New Scirocco. VW have updated the spec and the GT is now pretty much my perfect real world car.

Shame I don't have the money for a new car!
Likewise- see my few posts above. I've been investigating...

If you suddenly find £25k down the back of the sofa, just be aware that the Adaptive Chassis Control that used to be standard on all models is now relegated to the options list, though leather's now standard. What the VAG giveth, the VAG taketh away.

It'll be a while before I have the readies for a second hand one that hasn't done interstellar miles but I've got a plan now (and a couple of alternative cars to consider.) In the unlikely event that some mad millionaire wants to give me a new one though, I'll have one in Dark Oak metallic with Cornsilk 2 tone leather please. lick It looks horrible on the car configurator website but awesome in the metal.

Not sure I'd be too worried about v600 spec, it's hardly the last word in chassis finesse so I'm not sure it would matter too much.

Costs - unavoidable. Should certainly keep its value though so that could off set it in the long term

Convertible - no problem, they made a few, http://www.astonmartins.com/virage/v8_vantage_vola... for details. They might cost though...
