The point I was making is that to European eyes, on British roads, the car seems a little bit bulky.
Do you think a Mondeo is a little bulky?

Good job Ford doesn't waste it's time selling it to an insignificant little island where people drive on the wrong side of the road then isn't it? smile

Please don't misunderstand me, I think it's a magnificent car. If I lived in, say, Arizona I'd want one. I just can't see it being the right thing for the roads around where I live.

Amazingly, I know two people with mustangs. Not this particular model obviously, but the same bodyshell. What amazes me is just how BIG they are. Ludicrous. The SUV of sportscars. Built for those arrow straight roads in the mid west, no doubt.

Can't imagine how they'd be able to keep up on the B-roads of Suffolk and Essex with a well driven Mk1 MX5!
A Mustang is about the same size as an E66 7 series BMW, at least that's my rough judgement looking down out of the window onto my drive.
it's a little smaller than both the 5 & 6 series & hundreds of kilos lighter than either, if you compare equivalent models.

I was just looking at my Mustang and comparing it to the 7er sat next to it looking out of the window smile.

I suppose I could go out there with a tape measure but I'll take your word for it.

"since there surely can't be too many certifiable yet well moneyed Mustang fanciers on the planet"

I think you'll find there are quite a few in the states alone.

There we go. Cheers.

I'd say it probably has too much power to use it's pull potential on a lot of roads unless it had a VERY good driver. Nothing to do with size though.
An average driver would still be able to make it go very fast though.

So, we very nearly completely agree. I really do think it's too big for the type of B roads that I enjoy. I'm not suggesting that I could out pedal it though! Just taking an extreme position so as to make my point.

What sort of roads do you enjoy that a mondeo wouldn't fit down?

By "Bulky" I mean asthetically it seems a little plump. Not a criticism of the dimensions.

Power wise, it would be insane. Years ago I drove a 4.6 Supercharged Mustang engined Marcos coupe. It terrified me, just plain scary. I have nothing like the talent needed to enjoy such a car. That was maybe 500-600bhp.

remind me what sort of rear suspension that 1k bhp goes through? Something from a different era I thin.......I know there are plenty of phers who like this sort of thing and good luck to them, but i'd rather have something smaller, nimbler, probably German, that can go round corners as well as extremely fast on straights. Personal choice is a wonderful thing though and thank god we are all different and all tastes can be accomodated.......

As far as I understand a custom eibach fully independent rear suspension.

Also a Boss Mustang gives an M3 a run for it's money with a solid rear axle.

Same old tired crap coming from people who haven't got a clue- google is your friend or try driving one and tell us what you think.

correct me if i am wrong, but that would be a live rear axle....if I am wrong, please shoot me down in flames! Seriously though, this car is definately marmite. Its a bit silly (and yes that can be fun) its certainly no gokart, eh.

surely that's not right? A 7 series (limo) is the same size as a sports car??

On another note, nice car! Wonder what the top speed is, although I don't see the point of having over 800hp in a car, given you'd struggle to use / need more than that even when on the track!

Erm as I keep saying I'm basing that on looking out of my window at the two actual cars sat on my driveway. A Mustang and a 7er- from up here they look roughly the same size.
