130 mph laps have been done for a few years now.

Great story, would like to see the SR3 (as it is a track car and running slicks)against a 1000c track bike to see how the cornering and braking compares and the difference in lap times.

Absolutely. A +1 from me.
+1 some more too PH. A great read smile

Whenever I see a Hayabusa lump I am quite frankly amazed that they can package it into a bike frame. I personally think bike technology is great and it's great to see these engines being fitted to various cars.

Great article - but then i'm a sucker for bike v car stuff and always have been.

But having taken Busas around tracks, they ain't the most lithe. Fast, yes. Fun, yes. Quick through the twisties? banghead

S1000 RR would've been more like it punch

Great, great article, PH you're outdoing yourselves lately. I love these car v bikes things. The vids were spectacular beyond belief and the text very funny. Love it.

I love the fact that the Hayabusa still exists, and that someone somewhere would think that what it needs is a turbo

Agreed...makes a change to see a car less practical than a bike too!

Just the same as above, there's no getting away from the fact that aerodynamic downforce gives proper racing cars enormous advantages in corner speed and brakes over bikes; any bike.

Great fun. Nice to see a reasonable car/bike test, but the Busa would have most things to be fair. Being honest I enjoyed waatching the bike clear off in the video.

On the I O M theme.I think it was mark higgins in a usa spec subaru lapped the tt course at about 115 average speed thats as quick as the side cars so i dare say if the radical was geared different for a higher top speed and suspension sorted for the road it could trounce that.I know it wouldn't be anywhere near the 130 mark but it would be interesting to see what they could achieve. They've been to the nurburgring so the I O M wouldn't be a problem.

Isn't that the point though? The IOM really IS just normal roads - bumps, kerbs, manhole covers and all. Not sure the Radical would be able to rely on the aero as much as somewhere like the Nurburgring?

Seeing the recent Nurburgring Noble bit, made me think of Mosler, which lead me to a fifth gear Mosler vs 999 tracktest which I hadn't seen before.

Not sure how the Mosler handles the sort of power they're sticking in Ultimas these days, but suspect it could be a good chunk faster for relatively not too much more.
But then of course the S1000RR has really brought on the bike's side too.

The Nurburgring isn't exactly smooth tarmac.Granted no potholes but it has a mixture of concrete and tarmac and at the end of the day thats just a road too.Don't know wether you've been to th I O M but you'd be surprised how good the road is around the circuit. If a sidecar can do it surley a radical could too.
