Decently modified, but in reality I would keep them stock as they are pure classic cars. BBS rims on classic VW`s look ok i guess?

That just looks like 3 cars all lowered with different wheels on. That's not modified.
idea

They're modified... good luck trying to get away with that with insurance companies!

Isn't modified just anything that's not original? I realise some folk don't consider lowered suspension and different rims equate being modified enough, for a thread like this but each to their own. We all started somewhere.

Taken literally then yes.

But take that argument literally then a car with a different exhaust is modified - but does that really make it different? Yes I was being a pedant commenting on the 3 cars that follow the age old rule of dropping to the floor and fitting classic modern BBS rims but we've seen this all before.

Now a mate of mine has a show winning Golf. This one in fact. Whether it's your thing or not (personally I'm not a fan of the wheels) he's done something no one else did and went with M1 style wheels. A bit different - but still a VW dropped with big wheels.

With all that said - I'm a sucker for this MK1. Beautiful.

You know the owner of the Mk1 with custom M1 splits?!?!?!? They're the coolest wheel ever made, the fact they were converted to splits was just awesome sauce.

I don't mind.the dub scene though I'm not mad for stretch tyres but each to their own and all that. having them on a wheezy old polo is one thing but with that much power in a MK 1 golf on stretched tyres has to be lethal, non?

I've known and worked with Tim for over 10 years although he's moved to a new firm recently.

You couldn't meet a nicer more rounded individual.

That does look good and kudos for managing to find/fabricate a rim that's different from the usual. I used to like BBS but they've simply been done to death. But, then again....

Definitely need a new topic started for ‘stance’ cars so that this thread can get back to performance mods. All we get these days is stance and dubs, clearly decent mods should not be form over function, that's just nuts, more cruisehead than petrolhead

I understand your point but I guess 'decently modified' is subjective and it doesn't say 'decently performance modified'. Maybe it should?

I'd argue that it is rather debatable that a "stanced" vw is "decently modified".

I'm not adverse to lowered cars, but wheels sticking inches out of wheelarches and tyres 50-100mm too narrow doesn't interest me at all.

Subjective though I guess, unless someone is in charge ? smile

One one hand, a toyota shopping cart. On the other hand, a rally car, perhaps the best form of racecar. I have never felt so conflicted.

Well there's a huge intercooler on the front, and the chance of a car that size needing a V8 AND a turbo or two is slim, so I'm going for a rover turbo engine.

  • edit* and it's FWD - if you'd gone to the trouble of putting a V8 in, you'd probably make sure it was RWD.
