That's prompted a lot of research. I like that a lot. Front obviously hideous, but what a beautiful car; how come I've never come across these before? And a relatively cheap classic choice as well. E55 engine swap and you could have some serious fun in that scratchchin

I do like them but they look a little awkward side on and they're under wheeled/tyred

1980 5.0 SLC had standard size 205/70 14" tyres - same as were only fitted on the Lambo Countach LP400 a year earlier - different times!

my 1981 500SLC had 15" Barocks with 205/65s
it was only 240ps new

the 5 litre cars were a bit over 100 kilos lighter than the 450, with the Alu V8 and the light alloy boot and bonnet, about 1500kg which doesn't sound a lot these days

only just over 1100 of the 500SLC were made, a few more 450 5,0 (3 speed box is the difference)

Rust is the killer of course (and they are not cheap for a non-rusty one)

Limitless Motorworks Cayman

The owner blew up the flat six on his first track outing, so entrusted Limitless to stuff a 424HP Ford Coyote V8 midships instead.

Brilliant! A mid engined v8 porsche, the only thing making that better would be a flat plane crank for a proper whine

Reminds me of the bloke on here swapping an S4 V6 into his boxster

That's not the same car though is it? :/
I'd say it's decently modified, why does it being the same matter?

I've never understood why everyone wants an American V8 under their German car.
But it does sound absolutely ace, I admit.

probably because the cost of the whole conversion would be less than the cost of a new Porsche lump?

LS lumps are cheap, offer good power and are easy/reliable to swap in. The sound isnt bad either.

Id prefer an audi lump (like the bloke putting the S4 V6 in his boxster), but you cant fault an LS-swap..

Not in this case. In the video it is mentioned this conversion was $100k and if they did another one it would be around $70k. yikes

Mustang looks good in the background.

Sorry, I misread it and thought the original pic was being referred to, with the second as confirmation kinda thing.

I've been trying to get a photo for 2 years, but there is a white Jaguar S type R some where local to me. That has thick black rubber splitter and side skirts riveted on, that looks like that front bumper.

Stance Works, where we take something that could've been great but over do it so it ends up st.
this ^^^

it's the wrong sort of car for rivets, the front spoiler looks gash
Only they are race parts. And that model car WAS raced in a very similar configuration.

So you're utterly wrong.
Except according to the Stanceworks article:

http://www.stanceworks.com/2016/12/dkubus-mike-pol...

...it's a standard car, complete with automatic gearbox, that's just been lowered, had massive-offset wheels fitted and arches riveted on. It's quite a long way from Dkubus hill climb car and is just for promoting stance-crap to other stance-ists for them to buy from his shop.

His hill climb car probably has a place on this thread; it looks awesome and is functional. This car, however, is just stance-bks. Admittedly, at least he went easy on the camber.

"For a Mercedes fan, a trip to nearly any European car show is bound to result in disappointment. Beyond the droves of Volkswagens, BMWs, and even Porsches, they'd be lucky to find even just a few examples sporting the famous 3-pointed star. "

dunno what car shows he goes to, but classic Mercs are pretty common at any shows I've been to

go to Essen for example and see dozens of Gullwings

I dunno, other than the classic hall I saw barely any Mercedes, even then they were vastly outnumbered by other marquees and only really stood out as there was a collection of them. I only saw one Gullwing.
