Why?

They look like they are rim mounted to increase the effective diameter and I guess the car doesn't weigh that much.

I always knew those rims would suit that car, just never found a pic of it happening
Thank you for posting that you've likely just won me an argument between friends smile
TE37SL's? They seem to be quite popular on modern BMW's actually.
Are they not Rota Grids? (or are they TE37SL by another name?)

They're radial brakes. Been on bikes for years. Imagine a plate spinning and you try to stop it by pinching near the middle. It's much harder than pinching it at the edge. That's why radial brakes are better than standard.

Perimeter Disc Brake.

Radial Brake Calipers.

I dont know much about this car, but it a proper job! Seems to be a 4wd or rwd Ford KA running a 2.0 cosworth engine.

Djm made the rally car years ago, they did have 2 road cars with the same conversion.

One was standard looking, i don't know if that became the car you posted.

The ones djm did were more of a space framed wide arch car than that.

Perimeter Disc Brake.

Radial Brake Calipers.
effectively;
brake caliper bolts going towards the hub = radial
going side-to-side = 'normal'

nothing to do with more braking, just less fork flex (and ability to change to bigger discs more easily)

I hate those cars so much that after all that work i still don't like it!
True it isn't really a 126 anymore, but it has the shell of one and that's enough to sttify it!
