There's no list. You just have to put up a pic, give some information on the car and explain why it's decently modified if it's not obvious from the pic.

People then say whether it's good or bad, majority rules and the thread evolves.

Posting up pics with no explanation just for a reaction does nothing for the thread.
Fair enough, but the term 'decently modified' is very subjective and means different things to different people. My own taste is fairly all encompassing from these 'horrendous yank tanks' to time attack cars to massive off roaders and everything in between, should the fact that some might not like the same thing stop me from posting pics?

Anyway, lovely little Festa in this month's Classic Ford.

Supercharged Zetec, 274bhp at the front wheels.

My point proven, that does absolutely nothing for me whatsoever.

But it looks like a decent standard of work.

Done by a friend of mine (Will Pedley, as you may guess by the name on the rocker cover) for a staff member at Fast Ford. His work is top notch and he spent a lot of time on this one.

I am not an American car fan but i have spent some time in the States and i have seen quite a few well modified cars like the examples shown. It has to be said that most are "decently modified" even if not to my taste.

Some people simply need to accept the fact that not everyone likes everything all the time.....

That Fiesta looks a riot to drive! The term "decent" is definitely subjective but that ticks all the right boxes for me. cool

Just came across this, you can keep the "stanced" VWs etc, this is a proper stance!

Stumbled across this picture last night when trying to find a new set of wheels for my 159:

Seems to be 'only just' modified - lowered slightly, 8C wheels and a few not-necessarily-true cloverleaf stickers.

Makes me wish I got a red one, not a black one.
They really are great looking cars it has to be said.
They are, its just such a shame they are so unreliable. Two mates have had modern Alfa's that have cost 1000's each year to keep on the road. My mondeo has cost me about 100 per year on average.

Proof that certain elements that look horrid on 99.9% of cars (e.g. chrome wheels) can just look perfect on that 0.1%.

Agree that in general not a fan of the busted up and extreme yank modifieds, but this is just enough for me. Can I call it subtle? By American standards it is anyway, and that's why I like it.

But can someone explain the patina (rust look) thing to me? Why is it desirable - shows hard work or something?

The whole rat rod thing was a backlash to (very) high dollar professionally built cars basically. 10-15 years ago high dollar cars would be trailered to shows, displayed and trailered home again. The whole rat rod thing was "screw your pretty car, I'm driving mine."
Ironically the scene got to the point that the rat rods were being trailered because they were literally undriveable.

You do still see them around but both extremes have (to some extent) met in the middle. There are still some very high dollar cars out there, but they are less radical, at the same time the rat rod generation grew up a bit and build "Nice" cars now (at least for the most part). The whole scene has become a bit more tasteful.

Do note that trailered cars are not new - back in the 60s there were some really "Out there" showcars built that were non functional - no engine/box/mechanicals etc.

Normally you see the high dollar stuff trailered around for a year or two of shows and then they get driven.
