A car like this for under £30K - talk about depreciation.

I've always been one for looking at cars that still look current (at least to a non petrol head) or that carry prestige for little money.
Okay the CGT linked above isn't cheap - but what were they brand new? £120K - £150K.
Put a private plate on that and many would think you were driving a car with a six figure value.

They are just expensive whales these days though - big powerful cars are ten a penny, and people who can actually afford to run them tend to buy new cars anyway - not used millstones.
Can you actually picture running one properly?
Well I couldn't. Pricing things up I could run a Turbo R as a classic/weekend vehicle but not as an everyday run-a-round. Can you actually picture running one properly?
Why does owning a cheaper car automatically mean you HAVE to aspire to a more expensive one, regardless of if you like it or not?
Personally I wouldn't spend my money on a Bently, it is the next step up in the chav ladder from a Range Rover. Both are great cars no doubt, but both hold zero appeal for me whatsoever.
They depreciate heavily as they are no doubt extortionate to run, and have very limited appeal-

they have no interest for me either, if i was in the market for a big luxury limo an amg black would be more my cup of teaPersonally I wouldn't spend my money on a Bently, it is the next step up in the chav ladder from a Range Rover. What about this one? You think they'd take the washing down before shooting the photo, or drive it somewhere that looked half reasonable

Utterly horrid cars IMO so it's no surprise they depreciate with the same vigour as other expensive aspirational cars. When push comes to shove footballers and arabs want something new and shiny, not a second-hand model. Then add in some sky-high running costs. Hence the savage depreciation.
Nice cars to drive and live with (running costs commensurate with the original purchase price, but only a fool would think it would diminish with age) , but with a few issues with the image (footballers and idiots with rolls of fablon) and relatively massive production numbers, the values were only ever going to go one way.
Having said that, the values aren't doing too badly when compared to the equivalent Mercedes coupe or saloon.
ETA, interestingly, there are quite a few cars where the owners are a tad upside down as far as value to outstanding finance is concerned. . . . . . . from a used perspective, this could end up being one of the cheapest ways to get to 200mph

Image image image, laughable amongst supposed car enthusiasts!
Anyone actually driven one? Thought not. I have, and they are absolutely awesome cars, not much can touch them for their blend of comfort and refinement combined with rock solid 4wd traction and frankly devastating 200mph performance!!
But yeah, footballers cars cos probably 0.0001% of them are owned by footballers!
