RE: Spotted: Renault 5 Turbo 2
Discussion
My uncle had one of these on an 84 A plate in a horrid metallic brown with brown carpets and brown seats, any other car in this colour I would have dismissed but back then in about 85 it was this young mans dream.
£27.30 a week on the YTS was never going to buy one back then though!! I went in one recently and it felt a lot slower but it would after the more modern stuff I have owned but it still brought a smile to the face and felt raw even for this ex griff 500 owner.

The turbo2 and turbo 1 were the best cars Renault ever made, driven the clio V6 mkII many times and not that impressed, the owner has had it on the rollers and only hitting 226hp not the 255 renault advertised, he took it back to renault and they checked everything and said that it is all correct - has anyone had 255 hp form a clio v6 std from the factory??
very much doubt i had a remapped one which went ok but just too heavy to be a really fast car , got lots of attention though !DaveL485 said:
Organised a photoshoot with one a while back. Awesome motor. (mines the yellow/orange Fuego).
Another great car that I could have bought back in the day for around 6 grand but did not.As for the Renault Fuego - well i once dated a girl was was shall we say, not the prettiest on the block but she did own a lovely black Fuego Turbo. It was the only time i ever saw one let alone drive one

Hmmm "Fugly". Fast but ugly. Not my cup of tea. For that kind of money you can get a very good second hand lotus or 911. Just as entertaining and easier to live with.
Can understand why these have a following though.
Its not about what else you can get for the same moneyCan understand why these have a following though.

Wikipedia suggests there were only 200 T16's made, which considering what they were going to be subjected too, isn't very many.
The '200' Group B cars was a game. Ford had 200 RS 200's too, but most of them and empty shell with little or no possibility of them being finished.http://home.planet.nl/~koper193/rs200_factory.jpg

Jesus seems to shifting his collection here - including a cheap maxi! http://www.rallycarsforsale.net/clas/index.php?ct=...
That's not a real Maxi. Wrong bonnet and rear wings. Of course, a real one would be 10x more pricey, so Jesus' one is not a rip-off. Apparently it's been modified to run on Holy Spirit. But where can you get that in this country? My God those look amazing, I can't quantify how much I want one...

Thre's a guy who lives not too far away from me who has a white one of these. Absolutely awesome car, and as someone said before. The noise.
He's a lucky bugger! He's also got a blue and white 6R4 and a white RS200.
I guess he likes his Group B motors. Not seen a Delta S4 there though! (funny that with the price being circa 100k for one! )

Hands up who's just had a swift look in the classifieds at the price of v6 clios?
I have ( kinda have been for a while now that Turbo2's are thin on the ground and out of my budget), trying to justify buying one and running it for a year (just to tick a box) then selling it again. Very very tempting when they can be had for less than 10k.Childhood & present day dream car, always adored these. Kings Road in the 80s, as a kid I nearly had a fit when I saw a Black one parked up!
I am sure I remember seeing OEL 5 for sale privately in Scotland not too long ago? Wonder what the dealer mark up is.
Either way they seem to be a proven investment, the increase in value over the past few years is evident.

Just thought i would show our Renault 5 Turbo 2 going round brands hatch.
This car was used everyday as a daily driver and covered over 96,000 Km.
We also used to have a Peugeot T16 which came with nearly every set of wheel and tyre from snow to tarmac.
Here is a photo of the car being shot for The Encyclopedia of Super Cars magazine series.
The Peugeot T16 was many times the price of the Renault but the Renault was a far nicer car to own and drive.
