So what else come from the Passat? Just engine and gear box? Anyway that must make this car quite cheap to run when compared to other mid engine cars...

I've seen one in the flesh, fantastic build quality, makes a lotus look like an expensive kit car. You'd put your house on it lasting better/longer than a lotus too.

I can just imagine it'd be so much more useable and far more reliable than an Evora, but a Cayman R makes more sense to me.

Doesn't look like they have managed to fix the angle of the sav nav as mentioned in the previous article though. Cant see that being very easy to use down there...

Nice looking car that, but it's not the last word in Fast is it, 1200Kg and 300Bhp. And asking £88K is bloody rediculus price.

It's not pounds It's Euro's, so at today's exchange rate just over £73k. I like it a lot.

How nice it would be to see €1.45 rates again.

Are they going to make a RHD?

Bet it sounds fantastic.

I once had a drive in a passat r36, sounded great and we me measured its 0-60 in 5.0dead using some racelogic kit. One day when they come down to sensible money i'll have one smile

The decals by the front lights make this car remind me of a 458 italia

Maybe I'm just being a flid as it's late and I'm knackered, but this got me thinking about the R36 (I'm also a fan, think they are lovely things smile ) and after a look on the classifieds and on AutoTrader I could not find one for sale nationwide.

I will have another look tomorrow when my brain is functioning correctly but they must be pretty rare!

The Artega is stunning as well, bit of a shame about not having a manual option but would still be great fun I'd imagine, lovely thing biggrin

Cost and DSG are all that spoil it.

You're right, I couldn't find one either, they're always use to be a few for sale. Ultimate family wagon IMO. Doesn't have the image issues that Audi's have now got either.

Very good looking package on the whole. Some minor detail niggle though. The rear lights and grill juxtaposition is very clumsy. I personally think the instrument display is borderline tacky. It is too fussy and does not match the rest of the simple car. Green illumination is also horrid. What was wrong with VW blue or Audi red? Either would look lovely. Ok so these are minor points. But they do spoil an otherwise lovely car for me.

I spoke to their head of sales last year, they do have plans to make a RHD version - but as you would expect it does depends on demand and there is no launch date yet.

Drove past their place this morning on my way to the garden centre. They always have a few parked outside and inside but you hardly ever see any of them driving around here.
