Why do PH'ers like rat rods with no ground clearance but despise stanced cars because they're too low to be drivable...?
My answer - get it on air suspension. You've got the stance and then stick it up for speedbumps. The best of both worlds. Shortly to be fitted to my Transporter smile

If it was my car and I had the time and inclination then yes I would.

I certainly wouldn't give a toss whether or not some men on the internet felt that I had committed an act of cultural vandalism akin to drawing a moustache and glasses on the Mona Lisa. It's a mass-produced car, and not even an M-car, for goodness sake, not Moss's Mille Miglia SLR.

Obviously, the loss of a 2002 is always sad, but that actually really works.

That looks vile but I guess that doesn't matter aslong as the owner likes it, fair play to him.

Because its a forum and posts have the consistency of quicksand.

There's enough tatty/knackered old 02's about to make up the odd Rod or two. Not really my cup of tea though.

wasn't there a story a few months back where a 60's ferrari was butchered to make some kind of replica? PH editorial didn't seem to mind that half as much...

Love it, nice to see some imagination instead of following the crowd.

I guess I can see the work that has gone into a rat, and being a child of the 70's/ 80's custom scene rods will always appeal (in the main) especially with a big V8.

Stanced seems to be about dropping a car on air and fitting small tyres to big wheels, that is a scene I don't get but age means my roots are elsewhere.

Is this why Chris Harris has been stockpiling so many german saloons recently?

They all go against the OP hehe if PH had posted this article saying they liked the rat I'd expect the responses would have been negative!

So its OK to do it to a pre-war Ford, but not to a relatively common old BMW?

bizarre logic...

I had a white 2002Tii and i think it's a shame what they've done. If you'd ever owned one you would understand.

It would be worth more and look so much better brought back to it's former glory, and yes that Gruppe B Touring car does it for me. cloud9

The Rod looks ste!! vomit

I had a silver 2002tii and think it's bloody good for the BMW to have been given the rat look, adds another dimension to its iconic status IMO, much as the Art Car BMW's, rather than it being a car for trad/conservative bores....
