Remap Science, turned up early and only around six hours after booking.
Nice chap, had a great chat about cars in general.
No pay if your not happy.
Only re-mapped a Focus 1.6, no great power increase but much improved throttle response and made the dog carrying sh!tter much nicer to drive.

Very happy with the service.

So what is your experience?

Turned up early? Did he map it on your drive or something? How much did you pay to get this Focus remapped?

I am seriously considering getting my car remapped, after I have put the 325i manifold on. I am not sure how much difference it will actually make, as I am happy with it they way it is smile

It is supposed to make a huge difference on turbo cars, especially the well renowned 335d.

I ordered a hand held tuner from the US for my car (being an American car and all) once the tune was configured properly (ECU codes were wrong - I knew they would be as the sticker on the ECU was missing) it was a case of plug the tuner into the diagnostic port, go through the menu and load the tune.

The difference it has made is quite astounding really.

Mate did it for me so cost very little.

Went from 225->230->280->297bhp with the same economy if not better.

Only other mods were an exhaust and induction kit.

Done 30,000 miles on a 160,000 mile car like this with (touch wood) no issues.

Yes re-mapped on my drive.
£200, a good price. Didn't expect much but he was very professional. If you want the rolling road before and after he did offer it.
As is said not turned it into a hp monster but much improved.

Local tuning centre wanted £300 for the same service.

You spent £200 to remap a 1.6 Focus?

As he said, makes a big difference in drivability apparently. I dismissed it on my 1.8 Mondeo as the power increase was tiny, but after I sold it I looked into it a bit more, as you do, and found that it was supposed to transform the car. Ah well!

Or a lot more to swap it, i drive 15 miles a day to work. Standard it was awful. So yes i consider £200 to be sweet FA compared to changing cars.
Guess what? We don't all drive proper fun cars.
For the money it seems a big improvement.

Re-mapped a Saab 9-3 Tid. Thought it was brilliant.
However, the map might have been a bit aggressive as the flywheel went after approx 10K (on a 30Kish mile car).

Fair enough. I was genuinely curious as the I've been widely lead to believe NA gains are pretty minimal and not really worth it, probably dependent on the car. If it makes a £200 difference then I can understand.

Not a lot of money for a substantial gain, I imagine. I don't know if it's worth getting my 528 done.

There's no substantial gain in remapping a NA petrol 1.6.

With NA engines, I think it is more of a question of improving the drivability rather than focusing on increasing performance. You would probably get a better throttle response, more linear power delivery, and all the flat spots would be ironed out.

If it doesn't cost you too much, then go for it wink

Had my Passat 130PD auto upped to about 170. Was already 140 from the factory according to the tuners and this is not uncommon smile

Slightly better on fuel, went like the clappers biggrin
