I used to like these, but since minor celebutards & footballers started buying them, it's image has changed from Q car to that of fashionable.

Love these.

Surely the instrument cowl and interior generally has far too many curves? It doesn't match the exterior squared off shapes.

I wonder if anyone will actually put one of these on the UK register. It will be facinating to see. Will M-B 'persuade' a dealer to have a demonstrator, I suspect that there might be a bit of a book loss on a G65 in that role (one careful owner, hundreds of maniacal test drivers, any volunteers to accompany them?).

Its an SWB though which is not as cool as the LWB
I am sorry that is wrong. LWB looks gawky, SWB looks cool in a ruffty tuffty sort of way.

I may be biased.

These g wagen threads always go the same way....there will always be those who think they are the greatest thing and those who don't get or understand them.

I personally love mine. I can turn up in a clients yard without looking like a flash git, I can tow anything yet with a wash and polish it's ready for a weekend away or a pistonheads run. And it feels built like my old w126 560. Mine's just a g350 cdi, would love a 55 or a 63 next but the 350's doing 27mpg on all types of driving which is hard to ignore.

Totally pointless for the roads in Britain, but do i want one, god yeah, people say they drive a 4x4 and it is an X5, G Wagen is a proper 4x4.

How so? Yeah, stick it to The Man... by paying them an *enormous* amount of purchase tax and fuel duty!

We've had a G55 in the family since 2004.... Its been alot of fun, killing bmw's at the lights, loads of room, macho looks and glorious sound.

Quality though is rubbish compared to the Gs of the 90's... Same for all mercs i guess

Sure IIRC there was a year in the not too distant past where Mercedes Benz only managed to shift one single G Wagen in the UK for the whole year. Hmmm.

saw plenty of these during a brief sojourn in Dubai where running one as a daily drive makes more sense..seeing a G55 tanking it out of Dubai Marina on full chat and that exhaust note still brings a wry smile.....
