Those Land Cruiser Amazons have to be one of the strongest workhorses you could ever buy. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Toyota-Land-Cruiser-Amaz...
Well maintained, moderns cars, just seem to keep going.
The Prius is interesting, what is the battery condition like?

Just bought a T5 with 207,000 miles on it however an HPi check suggested that wasn't perhaps correct.
Off I scurried to the MOT history check site in the hope it'd had a new speedo at 100,000 and racked up another 207,000 from there but alas no... no claim to fame for me.
Seems it has done 207,000 miles... just feels like it's done double that. On the streets of Beruit.

Hmmm, very interesting, that came up a week ago for £6500... The new owner must have realised it's fecked and decided to chop it on...Davie said:

My car from 2005 until I sold it in April this year with 356000 miles. Seems the guy I sold it too has moved it on pretty quickly
Still has the lightly modified bonnet after a close encounter with the rear-end of a Focus....

Some great stuff appearing in here!
That Cayenne turbo does seem a bit of a gamble, especially if it was up for sale not all that long ago.
In case anyone didn't see, here is a thread in which the OP was selling an E36 318is with over 300k on the clock. 3rd time lucky on eBay!

Anyone for a taxi driver special for winter use?

This thread makes some interesting reading.
He wanted to see just how far it would go.
My son, who travels on his work, is determined to use his work horse for the last seven years, a P-Reg Rover 620ti past 200,000 miles. Currently on 193,000. He has several cars and could easily afford to replace it with a lower mileage example but, not interested. He visits building sites where some 4x4 Drivers would fear to tread so the car does not have an easy life ..
It is an error to think only modern cars are capable of high mileages. Back in the 1960-70s, I also travelled with my job. Few foreign cars on our roads then. I used the products of Abingdon, Cowley and Longbridge during that period and high mileages were clocked by all reliably. They had a hard life. How come? Not Rocket Science, regular maintenance and checking as recommended by all manufacturers. In the late 1970s, my Ford company car also had a hard life but needed a new steering rack and blew holes in two pistons too. It was subjected to the same level of company use as the other cars but would never reach 100,000 without major renewals.

If I took a car to 500k, I think I would find it hard to part with it. I'm certain I would have to satisfy my morbid curiosity over how far I could take it!
You could be right there. Car Mechanics run a regular feature on 200,000 mile plus cars. Plenty of cars with well over that mileage featured including someone's Montego Countryman Estate with around 600,000 on the clocks, still going strong. He wanted to see just how far it would go.

I think that's what it comes down to really, proper maintenance and taking care of the car is what's needed. Big motorway miles don't tend to be very taxing either. We traded in a couple of cars this year, one with 45K mostly single occupancy motorway miles and the other 25k of town usage and carrying people, similar age but the former was in far better condition.
