But god I feel sorry for the people who did such mundane miles in a stbox like this.
Why?

Comfortable, quiet, enough poke about it for motorway use - seems perfect for the kind of driving it'll have been used for to me
I'd wager a 7 series is better in every way

You don't half post some crap Welshy.

Next you'll be telling us a Sofitel is better than a Holiday Inn Express or that you've heard the Seychelles pips Benidorm.

A private jet probably is as well, what's your point?

Three grand in that mess is bonkers - if it was pristine but high mileage I'd actually seriously consider it

Can't think of a worse MPG and comfort combo for that distance. Awful cars. EDIT: On the Astra.
I did consider buying it and using it as a track day car....whats the worse that could happen?? However SWMBO would have had a serious sense of humour failure!

I'm puzzled as to why the rust wouldn't have been fixed by the anti-corrosion warranty confused

Seems bizarre for what's still a relatively new-ish car

Doesn't cover damage through accident/negligence though as per the post above.

Still can't believe what a pile of st that thing is for it's age.

It hasn't rusted from the inside out so won't be covered.

That's one unloved ex-taxi for sure.

They've recently upped the minicab maximum car age in Bradford to 10 years so it defies sense to sell it unless there is a fault developing on it, surely better to keep going until its 10th birthday or until it dies. Also, If it was any good it would be sold within the community, not on AT. There's no shortage of taxi drivers around there.

Bradford dealer doesn't mean it was sourced from Bradford.

Has this one been listed yet? Volvo V70 with 456,000 miles on the clock. I checked back a few pages but couldn't see it. Doesn't look too bad considering the mileage. Nearly 70,000 per year.

While I'm here, what's the general consensus on a 100k+ mile V70 D5 for using as a mile-munching work vehicle/ general load lugger/family car?
I think this wagon would be a good buy, my V70 is coming up to 150K and feels like it will be around for many miles yet, at £1850 its throw away money when you look at what you lose on the purchase of normal day to day cars

That looks excellent, these really seem like they're built to take the distance. On a couple of airport runs last week I was taken in two E220s, one was a 64 plate (already on over 20k miles!), and the other was a 62 plate on over 150k miles. They were literally indistinguishable from each other, save for the older one running larger wheels so the ride wasn't quite as good. Extremely impressive.

You're better off starting your own thread on this. 128k after 15 years is less than 9k per year. Now if it were two years old, this thread might be interested.

That should be an E46? Mine is on 132k and another PHer has one on over 150k. Both 6 pots though.

Watch for suspension clonks etc, and check for rust. The front wings will probably be bubbling a bit but I wouldn't be too fussed about that.

Mine has been great, had it almost 3 years and it has given minimum trouble. If it's good then I would probably take a punt on it. Let us know how you get on smile

Taken my 328i from 134k to 154k and it's been excellent. This really is no miles at all for an E46, the only things to look out for are, as Bork rightly says, abnormal suspension knocks or a vagueness about the steering (indicates worn control arm bushes), and arch rust. Don't worry too much about small under-paint bubbles, mine had little areas like that when I bought it and they haven't developed in two and a half years.

If the dampers are original, they might be getting a bit worn by that mileage, mine feel not quite perfect but this may be the stark contrast from my super-stiff E36 track car! Cooling systems a little suspect so see if there's any history for recent thermostat, water pump and radiator replacements. Not expensive or difficult things to do as preventative maintenance, though, so not a deal breaker. If it's tidy, it's a lot of car for £750!
