Can't blame em for driving that a lot 
My parents had a BASE BEIGE 1.6 Sierra Estate with brown interior. It was so low spec that there was no radio, and no rear wash wipe, and no head rests and no rear seat belts.
At 140K they offered to sell it to me for £700, which I declined having previously ragged it beyond what its good for a 1983 8 Valve, whilst pre and post learning to drive, and then at 150K they gave it to my sister as a reward for spending 3 years doing missionary work in the Cameroons. At 180K she sold it to someone in desperate need of a reliable family car from her church for £500, paid in 10 monthly installments. I think that on judgment day, she will have some explaining, and I think St Peter will find it hard to let her in.

To be honest both of those things point to the exact opposite to me - its pretty difficult to do any significant motorway mileage WITHOUT picking up stonechips. A decent motorway mile car will be covered in front end stonechips but largely immaculate everywhere else.I'm on 210k on my E39 523i still going strong.
I changed the cloth interior out at 208k after the seat was wearing through. I picked up an entire black leather interior for £80. it costs £70 a tank and ill get between 4-500miles 550-600 on a long run.
its effectively free motoring and ill be buying another E39 when this one dies as i just cant fault them a driving experience will be a V8 touring though.

Probably just wants the opportunity to speak with you to allow him to put some positive spin in the situation, such as how it's done all those miles but drives like 50k blah blah blah.
