Why is anything petrol considered a strange choice for high miles? I think the majority of Petrolheads would prefer to cover miles with an engine note they enjoy and quality throttle response.

The thought of doing mega miles in a diesel sounds financially great but I still prefer the drive of a petrol engine.

Still impressed the miles some of these cars are managing, simply by being taken back to the dealer repeatedly and changing anything with an advisory promptly after the FYI.

When im just cruising up and down the motorway for say 40k miles a year, I wouldnt care what engine I had. I would care what seats and radio were in the car more.

It's probably in a right state then. How difficult is it to take and upload some photos when you are putting the advert together.

I can 100% see your point there actually. Fair comment.

Unless, of course, you're paying the fuel bill.

Then all of a sudden - you're wondering if the V8 powered bose speakered behemoth om the drive was such a good idea.

Don't get me wrong - I do 30k a year in a 2.0 petrol. But that's me offsetting reliability against the slightly increased fuel cost.

"NOT HAD FIRST MOT YET NUDGE NUDGE"

Not that anyone would buy this and clock it or anything...

And "HAS YOU NO" probably gives you an idea of the genius who is selling it.
It has now had its first MoT.

Happily it's covered -109,000 miles in a month and now only shows 38,536 miles.
Everyone knows it goes on but so blatantly frown

Anyone found it up for sale with its new mileage yet?
Who would you report that to?

My post was based more towards the one he did earlier, you took mine out of context I think. I was meaning I couldnt care if I was powered by a tractor engine or a f1 engine, fuel bills excluded, due to the fact I would be sat at 80mph for hour after hour.

That's shocking. Someone is going to get turned over buying that.

I looked for somewhere to report it on the MOT history site, but there wasn't anywhere

Perhaps a feature they should ad, because that is shocking

Exactly. As long as it keeps going and you're comfortable, job done.

Not sure I'd like to do 200k miles in four years in a basic Clio, especially not a green one.

I always buy higher mileage vehicles and each of them has proved to be reliable aside from a few small niggles. People focus too much on the mileage which is a good thing as higher mileage vehicles can be had at a much cheaper rate. One that springs to mind was my old 2007 57 plate which i bought on 86k in 2012 for £3300. The car had new brakes all round and a years MOT. It was mint and didnt look its mileage. I later sold this car in 2014 for £3000 with 98k after over 2 years ownership. Excellent value for the money plus i got to own a car i had always wanted. If i bought one with under 50000 miles on it id of lost around £2000 in depreciation.

I don't think anyone here would class a 5 year old car with 86k as particularly high mileage....... 86k is nothing and doesn't even qualify for this thread IMO.
