Why so? If it had 6 cylinders would it have half the wear on it?

I would expect that VW put that engine through all of the same duty cycle testing they put all of their other engines through. Besides, it's only a little car, it's not like they put it in a Phaeton and it's been having it's neck rung everytime it so much as went to the shops.
Look at the USA all those huge engines producing tiny power from the 1950/60's still going strong and so so so many of them. Ie utterly unstressed and basic engineering.
Now how many tiny engines exist and are still run from similar age - -a tiny number. Why engine is much more stressed

Not ridiculously high for a 2009 car, but I suppose in a 4.8 V8 Porsche 160,000 is good going.

Not bad for a run around to take down the shops if you won a few quid on the lotto.

I still think it's overpriced, somewhere around £20k is probably about it's worth.

This is still the cheapest Panamera on Autotrader, however.

It is, yes, but for a couple of grand more you can get a newer, much lower mileage example.

That's a too simplistic way of looking at it, there is some truth in it, but there are plenty of other reasons. Often the USA is more favourable (depending on state) so cars will last much longer. If we had nice warm humid climate with no salt on the roads, there would be more British classics from the 1960s!

Often small cars don't have the same high milage as others simply because it wont be that pleasant doing big miles in them!!

I do agree that simple engines go wrong less often, but I would expect that VW UP to be able to do 200k miles without major issue. More worrying is that it has done the last 50k miles with no servicing!!!

That's until they do a 'thorough inspection' and then it'll be £3k rofl

Speaking of high mileage Porsches, here's a 2005 Boxster S with a Rockster-rivalling 185,000 miles!

The interior looks to be in good condition.

The car looks to be sagging at the rear though - do those have air suspension at the rear like the E39 BMW touring?

Is that not way overpriced? I would expect something like that to be shed territory.

50k and same oil plus filters is an interesting choice - maybe it uses oil and his logic being I've poured in 4ltrs over the last 50k miles so in theory the oil has been changed man maths sort of logic.

If for no other reason that it must have had the usual electronics issues MANY more times than most MBs of that era ;0

It's also being sold as 'spares or repairs' which you should see as a "walk away from the car AND dealer" sign

They've disguised it's taxi usage well tho - no scars from that ;0

A Kia with 209,000 miles is still fairly rare.

Easy miles in the USA. People do higher annual mileages on less congested roads, they also don't have MOT's to worry about and used cars are more expensive. Besides, when was the last time anyone actually wore an engine out? People scrap cars here because they, generally, have several "faults" on a car that has little material value, not because the car cannot be fixed.

Some of the cars on sale in the USA were built here, Honda's Swindon plant sells cars there and some of them get intergalactic miles on them. From what I gather most of the full size pickups that several on here get themselves sweaty over are getting pretty tired by 200k, much like most cars.

Seems to have worn the miles well. MOT history doesn't look too bad either, mostly tyres, brakes, bushes and one typo from the tester in 2012. wink
March 2011 - 66,849 miles
June 2012 - 10,272 miles
June 2013 - 145,897 miles

I really like the honesty of that car and if I wanted a winter/tip/dog car I'd buy it.
