Prof Beard said: Having just changed my "old style" Saab 9-3 Aero 'vert for a Carerra 4S 'vert, I'm expecting the "it's really just a fancy Vectra" comments to change to "nice Beetle" So people would casually walk up to you in the street and tell you that your car was a fancy Vectra? Colleagues at work would line up to fire insults at the floorplan of your car? How did half the stuff in this thread ever even come up? I get the 'I bet it costs a fortune to fill up' stuff. I can see how that might crop in converastion etc. But some of this stuff is just hilarious to read

Have we had the "Aldi TT" jokes yet?
Especially the story about the girl that had this joke aimed at her so many times, it drove her to sell the car?

It didn't wind me up so much as I found it comical. Someone once asked what turbo kit my car had on it. My naturally aspirated, Clio.

capri - bag of sand in the boot
I used to have one of those, but it was the 3 litre Ghia / S / 2.8i / tickford / Gordon Spice's BTCC winning car (I might have made the last one up)
Should have got the V6 (while true, I cant afford one, so bugger off)

(Oh - yes and at work - but it's a University and full of smart-arses)

Fox- said: I have to wonder whether 50% of these 'comments' are ever actually said. Do people REALLY randomly comment 'Why do you have an Estate?'? So true - like someone on here who once suggested he was asked why his car was always sideways. Give me strength. These threads always end up making the pedantic owner sound like a geeky chump and the innocent interrogator sound like the normal one. In truth, even with my attention-seeking car, nobody really gives a toss about it apart from me.

When people ask if I'm a professional racing driver. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JZ7ed_ODHNkCrow555 said: XitUp said: I would advise just saying 'Seat Ibiza' rather than 'Seat Ibiza DAB', makes you sound a bit of a spod. Was that really necessary? Yes. Not trying to be a dick. It just sounds a bit silly when people say what 'limited edition' version there car is imo. Crow555 said: Well, excuse me for simply specifying which Ibiza I have. I still don't see how that justify the name calling. Sorry if I hurt your feelings. Lets be honest though, a lot of us are total geeks about cars on here, so we owe it to each other to help one another out and rein in our more spodworthy tendencies.

Yes, its not exactly a 'cool' car for a 22 year old now is it?? Pug 306 2.0 HDI estate??! 0-60 in about 12 seoconds, terminal velocity at about 105-110mph and it handles like a small steamship. First thing my dad said was 'why did you buy an estate' let alone my mates...

Most people's comments/questions about cars range from 'how much does it cost to fill up' to 'how much does it cost to run'!

Making progress up the A82 at suitable speeds, 3 up, it never felt out of it's depth when putting a healthy dose of lateral load on the tyres. Poor pug, you met an honourable end at the hands of the French electrical gremlin death squad.

Yeah, marque specific forums are where you'll find the greatest levels of nerdyness. I hope you didn't think I was having a dig at your car by the way, that's a dick move, and while I'm a dick, I'm not that type of dick.
