Should I look under the seats for drugs? Probably guns I should think. In defence of Neil Diamond, his "Girl You'll Be A Woman Soon" was featured in a Tarrantino movie, albeit not sung by him, but he sings it just as well.

must admit I did wonder abou the 'lack of room' comment had a ride in a mates one 4 fat boys (2 6'+) and there was bags of room and very comfortable. Problem is that to a certain type of person if it isn't VAGMW it's crap end of.
At the end of the day they're a good/quirky looking car and set apart from the sheeple who drive Germanic products

That doesn't change the fact it is a big car inside as well as outside.

I notice you have not filled out your garage section in your profile. He did not say they were the same or as good just that they are a quirky alternative. It does have a mercedes Engine which so far is excellent. I am puzzled by the guy saying there is a lack of head room. I am only 1 inch short than the guy saying it wasn't very good so i looked above my head today and its got loads.perhaps its a little less than the others but I can't imagine its that much of a problem Rear room seems at least equal if not bigger than any other big german cars.

It's a quirky alternative to the likes of your Honda Legend, Mondeo etc. It's not remotely close to entering the executive section even though it desperately tries to yet fails miserably.

Mine is definitely an alternative to an e61,A6 and e class.I know this as I looked at and even test drove examples of each before buying it. Yesterday it was my preferred alternative to a Mercedes CLS and a rusty old Discovery, again I know this is true because it is the one I chose to drive to work in. We all have cars we don't particularly care for ,but in your case there must be more to it than a casual dislike. Care to elaborate?

Nobody is forcing him to agree let him buy what he wants.
Has anybody ever noticed that its always the people without a garage filled out that are the most vocal at dissing cars?
Ps Ade what the hell have you been feeding your hound or is that the remains of a trsspasser on the grass.

Has anybody ever noticed that its always the people without a garage filled out that are the most vocal at dissing cars? Yet beneath the veneer of stupidity he does actually have a point. I've defended these cars on here many a time, so I'm not - to borrow the vernacular of rappers and inner city white teenagers - a hater. They have their place in the market, they're big, super comfy, come with some cracking engines in them (Anyone who doesn't like a Hemi doesn't deserve the air they breathe), and so on. But, they're certainly not [despite what the marketing fluff might claim], in the same class as the exec cars they were pitched as being an alternative to. I've done a good few thousand miles in a fully loaded 300c across 5 states, so while I can't claim to have owned one I like to think I'm not just regurgitating what the Clarksonites on the net tell me. Volvo, the sea of grey German fluff, and some of the offerings from the east are definitely of much higher fit and finish standards, and while I'm not one to harp on about how fluffy the plastics are or whine because the heated seats switch has too much of a positive action, there's certainly far more finesse and thought gone into things like trim fit, switchgear, displays etc. It's not to say the 300c is bad, but it's not as good. I'd put it on par with a late model Vectra, make of that what you will. To drive they're not bad, a bit ungainly on the bumpy stuff, a bit wooly in most areas, and certainly make you aware of their size when you open the taps, but they're by no means bad. I'd still have one though. I like the oddball looks, the fact there's not one on every BHS wearing middle managers driveway, and the fact you can get a thumping great Hemi in there at the expense of a more premium feeling door handle. They also do motorways very well and by all accounts pretty damn reliable. Given they share many of the same parts bins as a car I'm just about to buy, I can certainly live with it

Sounds a reasonable appraisal. I get the impression he just doesnt like it just because his first post gives me an impression he hates the idea of it because of its looks.
I had a choice I could have bought an older of the germans or a newer 300c. So in that sence it was an alternative for me but not just on price it also depends on how much you care about things like plastics against other things like looks etc etc. and I just liked these more.
Is it as nice as the new germans regarding interior, fit and plastics. I have to agree, no it isnt.
My colleage had a 330 d and i have spent a lot of time in it. Fantastic car. I love BMWs had a 325i coupe for a while and loved it. Driven plenty of 5 series and 7 series.
Another colleague has a CLK and yes again I think the cabin is a nicer place to be.
They are in many ways apples and oringes but to compare it to a modeo or indeed an insignia I think is a little harsh. Mainly because of the waftyness off the ride and size interior and exterior. This make it 'more like' an executive barge than a rep mobile.
Ive owned modeos, vectras, accords.golfs. and had extensive use of just about every rep mobile ever made.
This is a completely different type of car to those.
If money were no object I probbaly would have bought an XJ/CLS but you know what? I might have just bought one these for anyway.
Its very soothing to just cruise home in. in that sence it does not fail misserably at all. It is what it is and its still a good car all in my humble opinion.

Lol. That is all. 300C was developed by Daimler-Chrysler (ie part German, lol) I admit the interior quality is not up there (the dashboard appears to be made from the same thin plastic as yogurt pots), but as a viable alternative they're pretty good especially if you want more motor for your money. As for all this nonsense about 'gangsta' image? Suggest these posters need to go back to reading the Daily Mail...In fact whilst I support freedom of speach, can we not ban all Daily Mail readers altogether from posting as their views appear to be completely anti-PH!
