Will these actually sell? If so, how many?

Def not for me, or the Mrs, but than again we're country bumkins now and drive real Land Rovers smile
Its not about the number of units of the Beckham Evoque that they sell, its about the number of units of the normal ones (that people can afford). Lower models are selling well with a healthy waiting list, so its a bit of bling marketing in an effort to keep the footfall in the dealerships going.

Gotta be cheaper than doing TV advertising these days! And if they shift a few at this premium? Well, its all profits to keep the business growing.

Fair play if it keeps the business booming and Brummies in jobs. I'll not have one but I'm sure plenty others will.

It is a shame there aren't more sensible post like that on PH these days.

Well I think it looks really smart. It seems to be a bit overpriced at £80k though considering a normal top spec Evoque is £46k. You'd be completely mad to buy this over a FFRR Autobiography which you could easily have instead..

A step too far may be?

Who in their right mind is going to spend £80K on what will be known as the Vicky-Edition?
A VBH Edition would be more humorous hehe
Or perhaps a VBRJ edition for PistonHeads? wink

Got to agree with some other posters here - it's getting attention for the brand and therefore (hopefully) keeping more folks here in the UK in work, be that at LR or their suppliers.

Chances are, with only 200 to be made, most of us will never see one of these editions anyway.

80k is what... Its not got 35k worth of equipment, its just something for 200 rich toff's to say they bought their wives. 200 cars isn't exactly going to be keeping hundreds employed for a long time is it now?

I agree 100%, I mean there are only 200 of them being built, so it's not as if they will be common - especially as it's being launched in Beijing.

Btw, don't think this has been posted yet - but here's the link to what looks like the official site from LR...

(Get ready to scroll down....)

PH also forgot to note that ...

"Each Range Rover Evoque Special Edition comes with an exclusive four-piece leather luggage in hand stitched black leather. Comprising his and hers two wheeled suitcases and wash bags, they are lined with microsuede with smoked chrome zip to compliment the matt grey exterior finish."

hehe

Like her or not - Victoria Beckham is a very astute business woman - love these threads, so much thinly veiled jealousy from others that perceive that they should have "made it" hehe There is a clue here wink

They'll have no problem shifting the units. Reassuringly if you don't like it and are abhorred by the branding association and pricetag, it probably isn't for you anyway, is it?

You have a very blinkered view.

Just to help you out, here are some of the points you are missing:

Also, can you explain why this has upset you so much? "my day has been turned upside down." seems to be a very strange reaction; Are you generally a very sensitive individual?

Clearly it was sarcasm in the most exaggerated form!

The things you point out are very true, and looking at this car from a fiscal perspective, it makes perfect sense.

However, IMO, its seems against the ethos of a long standing institution that has produced many great vehicles. I am simply not for celebrity endorsed cars, especially when its Posh Spice.

It is just going to be one of those things that grind my gears.

Victoria Beckham an astute business woman, really?

If it wasnt for the Spice Girls or more so David the most you would ever have heard from Victoria is, do you want fries with that, she is far far from a business woman and most likely has been guided by intelligent people!

She perpetuates the cycle the youth of today have in this country and that is the best way to make money in this country is by being famous or/or marrying a footballer, rather than knuckling down and working hard and taking your chances!

I am far from jealous of Victoria or David, good on them both, but business skills is not something that has earned them their wealth, their fame has bolstered there bank balance along with the advise of the astute business people you speak of!

As for the car, well, they do say money cant buy you taste and this is in essence the perfect example of that phrase!
