edit, didn't notice the road part.

In that case then the Honda NSX v6 or the v8 in the 355.

Any Ferrari 250, though if we're being picky, the LM appears to have the sweetest note ahead of the GTO

How on earth can anybody be suggesting sanitised modern catted units ahead of full fat uncatted, unsanitised racing engines for the road?

250LM
512 on carbs
917 flat 12 (they got some on the road so it counts!)
JE Rover V8 pre cat
3.8 XK
Lambo 12 in Miura spec
F1's BMW V12
F50
427 side oiler

Now Im a great fan of the Aston V12 in the Vanq and DBS, but to suggest it comes to close to any of that lot is humerous at best. Snap for the AMG 12 in the Zondas. They are sanitised and tamed.

And yet it sounds brilliant. Imagine what it would be like fully fledged, so much potential!

It sounds like a shouty dog next to a 512.

Ferrari V12's and Macca F1's are hard to top... But I think this F40 comes close. I know it's an LM and so not road worthy but it still deserves a listen smile
