If I'm in the car as well, I'd let most of my friends drive my cars - those who are inept at driving wouldn't get the chance.

However I'll only lend a car to a friend who I know won't abuse it - nothing wrong with giving it a bootful when the engine's warm, but I wouldn't let someone drive one of my cars who would rev the engine from cold or ruin the tyres with powerslides.

Don’t really let friends drive mine unless know how they drive well after an incident of a friend nearly rolling my fiesta on a deserted tesco car park one Sunday night not long after having the car...
However people who I do know well still have no problem couple people have drove the MG and had no issues with how they did as knew they were both good drivers. The one time I was a passenger and the other I let my mate borrow it for the day as needed transport for an interview and he just got day insurance smile

In terms of mates letting me drive their cars the best I have been in is a new Ibiza sport, BMW 120i and recently my mates 21st birthday present of a brand new 320d more than a fair swap for my little MG I thought...

As long as they don't drive / ride like dicks and they understand it's on a 'you bend it you mend it' agreement, I'm happy to let most folks take my stuff for a spin. I think my GTR had more people behind the wheel than most demo cars get. If someone's going to get a kick driving / riding something I own I'm happy to let them, life's too short to be precious about such things IMO.

However my FIL, who has plenty of money, seems to have recently decided it's fine to treat our cars like his own. He tested our Defender and stoved off the bumper protector then reversed the tow bar into a pile of gravel, covering it in cr4p and scuffing it.
He got your tow bar dirty? On a Defender? The bd!! Hope you gave him a good kicking.

Yes, anyone can drive any of mine. Met an old boy of 85-odd at the wedding of a friend when I had my Camaro last year. He was talking about how he loved Yank cars, so I gave him the keys. He and his mate (who must have been 90+) hopped in and he shot off down the road like a teenager. He came back 20 minutes later with a smile that nearly split his face (his passenger was a little paler).

It's only a car; you can't get precious about it. That's what insurance is for, no?

my Land Rover 110?.. yeah I don't care who drives it

my car... i'm probably more fussy about.

Not that I don't trust them to drive it carefully, it's more the fact that I try and park it where it wont get car doors opened into it and suchlike.

Purely depends on who it is. Most of my mates I trust enough to be careful with it, and it's a simple case of if they break it they fix it.

Only one. He is a better driver than me and I trust him implicitly.

Won't let anybody else drive it.

Only ever let my best mate drive my car, won't let anyone else other than my dad who used it once. Both have let me drive their cars and I don't mind as I trust them.
