Didn't even realise it was still for sale, pinched the link from when I posted it before.

I declare it genuinely my favouritest car in the world.

Oddly it doesn't work that well on the iPad, it's quite clunky.

Agree with GP - it's a bit much. As are some of the prices. £950 for a Longines seems a hell of a lot, as does £42k for a 993 in entirely the wrong spec

But Goodwood was doing Coucher before Coucher. Loon and I were doing Coucher before The Driver persona was around.

The difference is I presume that it was/is just normal life to us, not some "lifestyle" branding. I dont actually mind a lot of Coucher and stuff, what I loathe is the perfectification of all the cars. They are all "lovely old things", etc. You would never get him or his ilk referring to something as a "knackered old piece of Italian crap" or "some Brummie commie's POS" and treating it all with a healthy, cynical, humerous British contempt for taking such things too seriously. Something The Thread can be guilty of aswell sometimes actually, esp when it comes to mundane BMW crap, treating them as important! Its why I like Olly and Chuckles talking about their motors, their fked whether their are POS or "mint" and get talked about it as if they are bd hunks of tinworm that need kicking. I like that.

Indeed. Analogous to coolness. Conscious effort = fail. And that website is a very large effort. Still, I won't let that stop me attending the launch event. wink And it is kind of interesting.

Pretty much my thinking there Deej (funnily enough), the Couch-ness I do find interesting reading the majority of the time and dang I even enjoyed the jaunt with the Bug' and Gullwing avec Simon through Europe, try not to take it all too seriously and it is good reading in my opinion.

The lifestyle/look-at-me-aren't-I-wealthy mindest is rather irksome but I don't take it to heart and is surely the rich tapestry of life. I don't watch Eastenders Street as it's not my cup of tea but I don't lambast those that do feel the need to watch it.

I know we seem to live in a world where 80's cars are stupid priced if they are in good condition or have been looked after.

But. Is this worth almost 1/4 of a defender?

Especially considering you may be forced to negotiate with a weirdo who think he can control how you look after your investment.

This car is for sale to a PROPER owner and should at the very least be garaged. It is quite possible that you will be vetted for suitability by the present owner.
If I were suitably financially comfortable I'd use the car to launch 'topless bangers' a wonderfully cheeky grass roots motorsport event.

I meant to put a wink instead of the smile smiley in my post, tongue in cheekness comes second nature to me hehe

My cousin and I are aiming to be there between 10 and 10:30 depending on traffic really.

That would be a little spiteful.

However, a bodykit, neons, spinners and big sound system and playstations would be suitable enhancements before taking it to your first Saab owner's club meeting.

A good idea but then I don't get to market my smutty motorsport event frown

While I'm on though I'll buy a Colvin 911 kit and take it to the next PCGB bash, and I'll refuse to iron my shirt.

Why not just get one of those RWB cars and take that instead. I can hear the gasps now :O

The seller may be one of those annoying types that try to convince you they're selling the greatest machine ever to have existed, but it sounds rather decent.

Something very appealing about a well-loved 214k Alpina.

Whereas I just expect things to work. If they don't, then I get upset. If they do, you won't really hear a peep out of me.

Bimmers aren't mundane though. No £5k saloon which will (theoretically at least) do the far side of 180 can be described as mundane. At £50k I'd agree with you, but part of the reason we're all in this cell together is our mutual affection for cheap, fast/interesting metal.
