I think it looks ace FWIW, except for that rear bumper. I think it has shades of this in it: Which is one of the best looking of the old GT1 cars IMO.

Do you think Mike Duff of Evo could be a lurker? To be fair he's always liked his Mercs

Despite the sense of a £15k fleet I've checked and been told we don't have said lump sum. So does anyone have any experience of the MK6 Golf convertible?
£262pcm on a 3+35 (15k/pa) via lings for the 1.6TDI SE seems like a very reasonable sum for a car that will keep the good lady very happy.
I'm sure its dull in the accepted sense, a diesel cab is wrong, and its probably smaller than a 3 door golf. But the roof comes off, it should cost buttons to run, and seems like a better thing than a KA for her commute.

The point was that although the bi-turbo makes it look like a waste of time, it didn't exist at the time. And 6.7 litres of old-school tuned V12 is rather special. I just wanted to fight its corner a little.

If she's paying, tell her to knock herself out and then tell her you shall be spending the equivalent of just one years payments on something fun you get to keep at the end. Win. Yes I have met women. No, I know that won't work

Plus four or five cars that have negligible depreciating left to do is far more interesting and enjoyable a prospect than a diesel engined Golf wendyhouse. Evidently you need some advanced Applied Manthmatics lessons. I think Olly and Deej do evening classes for a small fee.

I just wanted to fight its corner a little. The last CL63 I saw was on here at £18k for ages a year or so ago (it was also low mileage). Dropped to £16k and sold, I can't believe the same thing now would fetch any more, which makes this obscurity feel relatively poor value to me. Somehow I also fear Brabusbork in a way even standard V12 Mercbork and AMGbork can't get close to. That the biturbo wasn't available until 2002 is a bit moot really as we're not in 2002 any more and aren't buying them new. It has obscurity appeal sure, but that's also sometimes reason enough to avoid and go with the mainstream appeal, certainly with half a mind to any future resale considerations (in terms of both ease and value). Too wild a card for me, basically - that's not to say it's entirely devoid of merit.

Chris, is this purely her money or do you both pay into one pot and spend accordinly? If the former then I wouldn't bat an eyelid but if the latter the only positive thing I have to say is "woo everyone loves open top motoring".

I see your point, about interesting however we're talking about replacing a 6 year old KA with something that keeps her happy, and it would be her money and she is tighter than me (in the last year or so she has walked from a Polo, Mini, 500 and Fiesta, all of which she really wanted until the reality of paying monthly hit her shoe budget hard). Personally I'd drop a lump into a Volvo V70 D5 and a MK1 Focus RS or S1 Elise that gives a very sensible daily and a fairly depreciation proof fun car. But she is the least interested in cars F1 lover I've ever met.
