Indeed.

Although I note that from Monday, Costco are offering an additional 20% off their already competitive prices for purchases of a full set of Michelins.

At £100 they seem frankly excelent value. Is it worth £150 extra for matching contis all round. Hmmmm

Honestly? No.

They're all the tyre you need - I run them on the XJR and they work a treat.

I have imposed a £2k budget and maximum of 30 mile distance for the barge.

Currently, this is top of my list - http://www.haydnjamescars.co.uk/used-cars/lexus-ls...

Yes, I know, it breaks the budget restriction, but only just!

Also possibly considering -

Except it isn't, for the following two reasons:

1) I own a car that works

2) I prefer not to look like an absolute censored in public.

For the long distance jaunt, I'd pick the LS - fantastic on the motorway and about town.
You seem to be near me so I've had a little look at some others:

I wonder if the previous owner did anything to upgrade the brakes? Appealing, though I'd want to put the rear spoiler back on because it looks oddly nude without.

Love the Merc! Possibly too much over budget though. wink

I think I'll add the Audi and Jag to the list of possibles and draw up a map/route for going to look at cars over the weekend. I'm actually tempted just to buy the LS even if I don't need it!

Thanks smile

LS is probably the best for the purpose, in fact the only car of the above that I've actually owned!

Is there any E34 Touring love left in the world - say a Supercharged 540i six speed running a shade under 400bhp.....

And here with my own puny 340bhp B10 4.6 Touring.....

Do I need a membership card of some sort to buy tyres from Costco? Looks like the M3 will need a set imminently...

yikes

In there like swimwear, as a powerfully built company director I have membership.

Next question, is £165 a fairly substantial amount to fit an engine hose and perform a coolant flush on a 7 series? (Hose suplied)

Seems a little strong

It's a pretty simple job, don't you fancy giving it a go yourself?

I did think so. I think I need to find a decent specialist. It's not actually a difficult job, we (well, someone a little more talented than me) replaced the split hose with two hoses and a joint to get me home. While the repair is solid (actually better put together than the standard hoses on a Pug 306) I've got the correct replacement part from BMW and just want it fitted. Think I'll DIY, top up the coolant and then get it flushed out at next inspection.
