What's the cheapest way to get to France? Ferry or Shuttle?
Any sites that offer cheap return fares? I've always found the ferry cheaper, but less convenient, and a good bit slower.

Any sites that offer cheap return fares? I've only compared a few times as I hate ferries - too many sea sick nights as a kid on the 'Pride of Cherbourg' - but seems that shuttle is usually more. Depends how far in advance you're booking and how long you're going for (shuttle return prices change accordingly with short stay usually being 44 return). When booking on Sat night, I don't remember the exact price of the ferry but it was more than the shuttle. Ended up booking through 3 rd party for first time - Direct Ferries - as they had crossings where ET website showed sold out.

I always take the Chunnel for Le Mans but let the good people on DFDS Seaways (formerly Norfolkline) take me accross to the Ring, it drops you a bit further up the road. I find the Chunnel souless and it bores the hell out of me, while I like the break you get on the boat

Depending how far you live from Dover, it's nice to have the opportunity for a proper leg-stretch and scoff break. And the various landing ports offer, IMO, more convenience as you can choose the route which best aligns with your driving requirements.

Can't stand the ferry. And there's always another train 15mins later if you miss the one you're aiming for. So Chunnel all the way for me.

Is the SeaCat still going? It offered the best of both worlds last time I used it (8 years ago).

http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/3657850.htm Almost at the four-figure price bracket and without an overly high mileage. Does anyone else think that shorn of ///M badges, these are incredibly discreet little things, especially in Böringsilbergrau?

That is some serious value. Wonder where they'll bottom out.
One of few modern motors I can really see myself in.

The former is (much) quicker, but priced accordingly. DFDS does Dover->Calais or Dover->Dunkerque. 1h30 or 2 hours respectively, £25ish each way if you book early. I don't mind the ferry. On my usual route, the break is welcome. Zwolf said: Gaz. said: This Chimaera hardtop makes the Cerbera look awkward & out of proportion. But I certainly don't think it makes this look ungainly: Zwolf said: Also, why have handed alloys if you're going to fit them to the wrong sides? >OCD twitch< Bangladeshi flag: Yes, really. Annoying, isn't it. 'punt

That Z4M is absolutely lovely. As others have said, far more discreet than the equivalent E46 M. And, it seems, more rapid.
It would involve a small loan, but that's one of the few cars I could imagine replacing my M3 with which definitely wouldn't be disappointing performance-wise.
