So, so wrong. DBS is the best looking of all the Astons and has the same sound. And is by far the better road car because of its longer wheelbase.
I don't know why anyone would have one of these over the DBS.The Pits said:
I had hope for you with that Ultima cover of yours but you've just revealed yourself to be a not just a traitor but an infiltraitor working for the germans. Expect a knock on the door from some Beefeaters soon!
At what point was there any suggestion that the V12 Vantage is a racer? And I imagine you'd be showing one or two signs of wear after 40,000 miles worth of rental abuse too!
As Steve Sutcliffe of autocar says its aimed at the GT3/GT2 market with rather gorgeous carbon bucket seats, carbon splitter/rear and carbon bonnet vents. The E-Brochure first two pages has one in racing livery http://site.astonmartin.com/brochures/v12vantage/e... and "has race derived technology". Though I wouldn't put an 135k car on the track with carbon brakes that will crack if not used properly. At what point was there any suggestion that the V12 Vantage is a racer? Both rentals were similar age and levels of abuse. When I nearly bought a DB9 4 years ago, the rental showed what the leather looked like after abit of use, how the paintwork aged, what parts are you likely to catch when parking/driving since they usually scratched by previous drivers etc ... all good but the girls would not fit in the back.
However you right, if I had my way I'd be siding with the Japanese and Italians as well! The Nissan GTR shows how 1.7t should go and also shows me a clean pair of heels http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEW9zVX5_5g! The Lambo Gallardo is superb in burnt orange with that popping and crackling V10 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9L2GuFnoKhA well it was for me away when I had it in first at 8k rpm! Looks like the Americans have gone over to the Italians as well! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tMO_uG6iE8w&fea...
May not have to worry about the Beefeaters - they will be in a hedge backwards with all this rain. You need to send the SBS instead!

I've seen a few V8Vs and DB9s with approx. 50K miles that had been fairly well maintained -- and they looked really good. I've seen more than a few Porsche 996s with similar mileage that had not had good care -- and they looked terrible. I don't particularly care if an Aston that isn't cared for will show wear -- what matters to me is that if it is given good care then it will continue to look great.I'm not really convinced by this car. There's just something that doesn't quite add up.
On paper it makes the claim of being a hairy-chested Aston in the same mould as the Vanquish or Virage... and maybe if it looked a bit less girly then it could get away with the sort of antics experienced by the reviewer. But for a car that shares its styling with the V8 and DBS - ie so refined that it almost deserves the title of "hairdressers' car", or even comparisons with those (ahem) "girls" whom you're likely to meet in a dodgy Phuket nightclub - that kind of driving experience makes you want to run away commensurately quickly
I'd like to know how long it takes to get around the Nurburgring - that would probably be a good indicator of whether the writer knows what he's talking about or not. My guess is it would have trouble keeping up with a more "balanced" car like the V8, or even something much older, like a Ferrari 575.

It doesn't share any styling with the DBS, that is the longer VH platform, it does have the same engine though On paper it makes the claim of being a hairy-chested Aston in the same mould as the Vanquish or Virage... and maybe if it looked a bit less girly then it could get away with the sort of antics experienced by the reviewer. The V12V's are very nimble, the two that followed my V8VS through a torrential North Wales had no problems keeping up (same are & same day as the OP )
As others have said EPS off is not good and respect for the Corsa's in the cold/wet is a must
