RE: Diesel myths debunked

Other than the stigma Diesel experiences in the US, most of the drivers out there would probably appreciate a diesel.
They're use to torquey low revving v8's petrols, now they can have a torquey low revving v6 turbo diesel.
Lol wut? A petrol v8 will pull from as low as 500rpm, perhaps lower. Any diesel will not pull from below 2000rpm.They're use to torquey low revving v8's petrols, now they can have a torquey low revving v6 turbo diesel.
Low revving diesel myth, debunked.

I've driven diesels like you say, nothing, nothing, boost, rev limiter.
A lot of the newer stuff is much more progressive, with the turbo coming in earlier than 2000rpm and in a more controlled manner rather than on/off.
Low revving, in the context in which I was describing is peak revs, Diesels can't rev beyond 5200rpm with any usable torque. Physical limit of the combustion process.
Most factory yank v8's don't rev beyond 5500-6000rpm. So it's not as if you're looking for something that screams and screams.

WTF kind of diesels are you reffering to , my 525d is like a train from 1,000 rpm
It will sits at 70mph at around 1,900 rpm
There is so much stupid st being talked here
Yes but not by myself. Try driving in 5th at 20mph, bet it'll stall after shaking you to a minor concussion. It will sits at 70mph at around 1,900 rpm

Yes its an 05 E60 so it only has the 177 motor
It was just that my remapped 320Td needed to be approaching 2000rpm to have proper grunt. Haven't driven a 6 cylinder diesel but surely the turbo is a bit off from that at only 1000rpm?I honestly don't mind diesels if they're a decent engine with a relatively good power output.
My current Merc. has the 3l V6 diesel and is pretty smooth, it has a nice linear power delivery and, it's really quiet on the move too, you can't actually hear the engine, just mostly road noise.
Saying that, my next motor should be a 5.4 supercharged V8 petrol

However mine will run at a steady 30mph in 5th

Like a train? What, slowly? Trains don't accelerate rapidly. It will sits at 70mph at around 1,900 rpm

The X1 I drove yesterday was totally breathless below 2k.
