Driving along a main road in Maidenhead yesterday evening in my car ('06 Audi S6 Avant), I had a young driver in some nondescript car look down at the front of my car, back up at me, and then give me the sign involving a loose fist being pivoted about the wrist.

I've no idea why, and wondered what people thought the most likely reason.

The most likely reason, as far as I could see, was that I have DRLs on my car and he thought I was driving with foglights on (it was possibly dark enough for sidelights to have come on as well)? Alternatively, maybe it's because he thought I'd stuck an S6 badge on the front of my car? Maybe it's because I was driving an Audi?

The car's only a few weeks old (to me) and I've never experienced anything like this before (coming from a 1.8 Mondeo).

Answers on a postcard, please ... or below smile

All of the reasons you suspect are probably true.

Clarkson said you're an Audi driving cock, so it must be true.

Have you ever masterbated? Some people can tell if you have just by looking.

As previously said - Clarkson hates Audi drivers, therefore most of the general public do too....

Wouldn't worry about it - I'm sure he will pick on another brand this year and everyone will hate them.

What part of Maidenhead? That's going to indicate the intelligence of said bean shaker wink

Probably the foglight thing but it's an irrelevant distinction as LEDS are so fricking annoying anyway. It's a lose-lose situation. You buy a car with "Look at me with my bright lights", you live with the consequences.... wink

Just before going under the railway bridge on Norden Road, towards the A4.

The level of insults in this forum are incredible. You know, if I'd wanted to be insulted, I could have just gone round to my in-laws ... it would have been much easier, and I'd have had tea made for me.

An '06 Audi you say? They didn't fit DRL's back then did they? So perhaps he was showing his distaste at someone who would retro-fit EU fairy lights to their car?

Just a thought! biggrin

Awww, bless.

Has anyone actually insulted you personally? And is travelling to your inlaws house really easier than looking at the internet? You have a teleporter or something?

So what happened between 08.42 when you were loving the replies and 10.00 where you suddenly felt insulted?

Was is because somebody suggested your car had after market DRL's ?

You can probably disable the DRLs if you wish, which is what I'd do if I had a newer car with that awful (IMO!) feature!

The guy across the road has a S6. I didn't know they did a S6 TDI with manual gearbox, but he has one. Badges and all to prove it. He even went to Halfords and bought DRLs for it, and attached them to the grille with cable ties.

Then again, he still spends hours washing it with his gritty sponge, pressure washer, and then makes sure to finish off the paint with a chamois.
