Wow that does look nice. I'll admit I was wary of the depature from wood in the interiors, but that does look nice. The only thing I don't like are the dials. There's something so much nicer about physical dials, and it's a shame they have gone.

Please don't mention this the Scorpio in the same breath again. This is so much better looking that the Audi, BMW or Merc equivalents!

And he still choses the wrong one! Get the E6x version with the proper engine in it.
Given the reputation of the e39 that's a whole load of 'lol' right there in itself.

May I ask what that job is? As most companies within the motor industry have restrictions on who can drive what at what age.
I was working for a smart repair franchisor, it depends on the companies insurance policy smile

Hardly a wind up, I voivced an oppinion on the car which turned into a bit of a debate/rant. Throwing out insults and commenting on the whole thing, arent you just as bad?

I had a little time to wander so I checked out the current line up in the Berkeley St franchise. My god that XJ is a nice place to be whatever seat you are in. Most cars I look in through the window and think dull so i don't bother. This gave me a big cuddle as soon as I got in and it felt purposeful.

Why mention old jags? You are becoming rather boring now!

If I was getting boring you would stop replying!

I mention old Jags because they are where the mondeo joke derives from and affect my oppinions of the newer ones.

Well I based it on your comment of "Im fortunate enough through my job to have driven a lot of nice cars, you get into a Porsche, Aston, Bentley etc and it is instantly apparent you are in an incredible machine, get into a Jag and its plasticy and poorly built. But what do I know?"

which doesnt mention Jags of the past, the whole topic is based on a current Jag also, maybe everyone else here got it wrong.

The new ones do, yes. In fact they have for a couple of years now.

The XKRSS i drove had nicer bucket seats than a Porsche GT3.

I think you just have to fess up here pal. You clearly don't know what you are talking about. And talking bks in a more assertive way is all well and good.

But its still bks.

Edited for nice picture of a Jaguar that is not all pipe and slippers and demonstrates how JulesB does not know what he is blathering on about..

And here is something else for the resident fool..

The new 5.0 V8 Jaguar engine in its supercharged form. More than 520bhp. Few mass produced engines are as good.

A fabulous, efficient, grunty engine. Better than an Aston V8 by miles.

If it was an AMG engine people would be shouting from the roof tops about it.

It will send the car (XF, XJ or XK) sideways at any opportunity and yet in daily use it does 25mpg ( not much less than the Pistonheads fleet Golf GTI).

It is a much, much, much better V8 than the one Porsche use.

And yet, somehow, you think a fking Mondeo is relavent to the conversation?

All you have shown is that your car knowledge needs a lot of work.

Go back and earn your PH stripes, fella. Come back when you know what you are talking about. smile

The mondeo gag was aimed at the old jags, had nothing to do with the engines, I feel like im repeating myself but you are taking this out of context.

No matter how much you gusy rant about how great you think the new jags are and why you think they are better than their competitors it comes down to opinion at the end of the day. If it was an AMG engine, it would probably be better smile

Opinions are easy to have. But if they are not based on fact, or experience, or they are based in ignorance , then they should be challenged.

Believe me, I was not bothered about Jaguars either.

But having ragged some around Thruxton race track I think they deserve defending. They are excellent cars. Easily the equal of their German competitors.

The supercharged V8 is a monster engine and the cars themselves are a long way away from the old image from the past.

Idiotic jibes about X types are just that - idiotic.

I popped my Jaguar cherry yesterday when I accompanied Dan on the Jag 'do'. It was my day off, so it would be rude not wander over.

I had never driven a modern Jaguar because they have automatic 'boxes and they didn't 'do it' for me.

What a bloody idiot I was... both the cars I drove around the Nordschleife were magnificent. XFR and XJ L Supersport. Lots of great steering feel, marvelous body control and a brilliant combo of engine, box and diff.

They get two thumbs up from me, and I'd easily choose one over a new 5-er or 6-er, whereas BEFORE I'd driven the Jags, I wouldn't have thought twice about taking the BMW option.

Fair point, but I cant bring myself to like them, maybe it would be different given the chance to throw one around the track but as it stands im not a fan at the moment.
