2.5 bar? I think not!! someone has messed up their conversion or doesn't know what they are talking about there. for perspective (1 bar = 14.8psi) a 2010 911 turbo runs 11.6 psi, 944 turbo interestingly about 11psi, a 98 impreza about 12psi i believe, even indycars run only 3-4 bar and their wastegate sound like a rifle going off such is the pressure.

Drove a Clio at Brands it does sound gd, but I prefer the 250 sound, it doesn't have the turbo whistle of my 225 cup but has a thing called a sound pipe which feeds sound from the engine into the cabin- the focus rs copied it as well as the suspension torque reducing thingy!

The Focus ST was the first hatch to have the sound pipe gubbins on it. And the 1st mod I'd do would be to remove it to be honest.

I remember Jeremy Townsend, who is high up in Renault uk saying they'd come up with it first, but doesn't matter.
I know it is kinda fake but I love the sound so I'll be leavin it in! Wish it wud sound as gd as the rs focus from the outside!

I believe that the quoted 2.5Bar includes 1Bar of atmospheric pressure. So it actually runs 1.5Bar aboard atmospheric.

I'm not a technician, so I could be a mile off the mark.

I wouldn't take the sound pipe out of a Megane. It's a quiet car and engine as it is. Without the sound pipe you'd be loosing too much.

My old Z4 had something like this. With some of the foam removed from the pipe it sounded brilliant. Sadly only inside the car however.

Megane List price starts at £24,840 for a 265 Cup.

Clio list price starts at £17,135 for a 200 Cup.

What you really want is the 'full fat' 265 with Cup chassis, Recaros, 19' Steev Wheels in Black with Red lip, RS Monitor, climate pack and Xenons. In Arctic white.

Yours for £31,890 wink

Hell of a car though...
My mates got one of those in the spec you speak of, £17,500 with 10k on clock!

Well its not going to be a 265, they've only been on sale a few months but your point is pretty valid. Despite the fact that its one of the finest drivers cars money can buy and superior to anything else thats remotely comparable, its still a Renault and that means vertical depreciation curves for the first 3 years. A low mile RS250 with cup chassis and recaros will be less than £10k soon enough. Stupidly good value for a great car.
My Trophys done 14k miles in 11 months and 4 track days and still feels fresh and rattle free. Gets loads and loads of appreciative attention too. Obviously being bright yellow helps but they're very popular with joe public.

That's what I was thinking, must be a 250? I haven't seen a 265 for less than £20k yet irked

Must be a 250 then. I had a ride in it and it is a fast car but the ride is back brakingly hard, especially with those recardo seats. In the article it mentioned the torque steer was only slight but my friend recons its a bit more noticeable than that. The depreciation would scare me off.

Back brakingly hard,
Not so sure about that. Its firm and can be bouncy on dual carriageways strangely but its perfectly acceptable. A Mitsubishi Evo or a Nissan GTR, thats hard.
As little torque steer as any fastish FWD car i've ever tried I would say. Not really an issue , even on a pockmarked B road. Instead it just deals with the bumps with fantastic control and wonderful grip. In the real world (Well - the UK ) its a fast as anything from point to point.

Better than a used Cayman? Perhaps not but its a full size 4/5 seat hatchback and that means its a much more versatile thing. But buy it after 2 years or you will get burned.
