Best part of 24mpg is pretty good.

Does it really do that?

If so, it is making the current brace of superhatches ( Golf, Megane etc) look desperately inefficient.

I wouldn't be too patriotic about Jaguar, they're Indian owned.

But why no full-fat XJR? That's the only thing that's holding me back from jumping ship from AMG.
Well, it's the V8 supercharged, you would expect it to be the R. Looks like they've choosen to call it the 'Supersport' rather than the XJR to be able to sell diesels with a Supersport badge as well.
The wife recently drove XF Supersport and XFR. Similar on paper, but noticably different to drive. Then there is the styling......if Jag finally decide to stay true to form and make an XJR I'm in.

Hear, hear

Massive road presence.
I'm sure she would look good in Cunard colours.

Do you mean the XF SV8? That is indeed quite different to the XFR, but then the XFR is a rival to the M5 wheras the XJ SS doesn't really have any direct rivals apart from the S8 which is less entertaining.

Nope, I'm not a "troll", it's genuinely what I think. It does show how far we have fallen though when it is "patriotic" to give money to Indians.

Jeeez I'm not sure I want to be on after that. irked

Oh what the hell... how can you get more English than a well-applied 510bhp left hook delivered in such an elegant velvet glove? I love it!

What about the 17,000 families in the Uk who have people directly employed by Jaguar Land Rover?

Including the 2000 or so new jobs created by the bililions invested into the company recently. And then there are the tens of thousands of people in the UK working for suppliers and company's that depend on Jaguar Land Rover.

Is it patriotic to support them?

Don't be a numpty.

Jag is about as Indian as Chrysler is Italian. Less, even, bearing in mind their product sharing.

Not at all. But I think its perfectly patriotic to support a company that provides employment to tens of thousands of families across the UK.

Trotting out the old "but their Indian" routine is not only obvious ( after all, it is hardly a revelation, every one knows it) but it is also an oversimplification.

And it's not about Jaguar. It applies equally to Land Rover, or Nissan, or Honda for example - all of whom make a significant difference to the Uk economy.

Rather than have a negative attitude, we should see the positive. A LOT of people would be in the crapper if Tata had not come in and poured in their billions.

You don't hear people complaining about Ford or Vauxhall being American do you, so why raise the issue here?

Welcome to the global community. It's the way things are now.

Well I am English through and through, and if you buy one it helps keep me employed, and I have to say I am not the only English person hiding in this "Indian company" you refer to.

Now I am off to wash the company elephant and take it out for a test ride.
