RIP, every time I hear the name I get a mental image of a grainy film of a Cobra hooning it down Route 50 in the sun, V8 singing. Can also imagine a GT500 KR doing the same thing, supercharger screaming.

Loss to the automotive industry frown

He's given car nuts the world over so much.

A deservedly good innings. A shame it couldn't have been a bit longer. RIP.

Really a shining example of why his generation are referred to as 'The greatest generation'

His reward is that his name and legacy will be legend for the rest of time.

Noo! cry

It really is very sad news to hear. As most posters have stated, he has given petrolheads so much.

Thoughts are with the family. frown

Not at all a fan of generic RIP threads usually but this seems almost like the passing of a relative, actually very sad indeed.

So glad I met Carroll Shelby at Laguna Seca in 1996. A great man and true legend! R.I.P.

RIP, indeed......
I actually met the man himself at Addenbrookes hospital years ago when he launched the 'Shelby Transplant Trust'. I filmed him and shot an interview with him - little did I know then that I'd own a replica of one of his creations. Wished I'd got his autograph at the time.
As mentioned on 1st page, I've also been to the Shelby factory in Las Vegas a couple of times since - his original car is there (the museum is well worth a visit if you're ever there - and it's free)
Very sad.
