It's a late 1971 production KPGC10 'Skyline 2000 GT-R', which left the factory as a standard production road car but gradually became a club racer / track day car in the Kyoto area. It used to do a lot of club events at Fuji Speedway in the 70s. After a long layup ( sitting in an underground car park ) it was refurbed / restored in 2004/5. It took part in the 2005 NISMO Festival at Fuji Speedway, then the 2006 'Time Machine Festival' ( also at Fui Speedway )where it was driven by Kunimitsu Takahashi, and I brought it over to the UK in mid 2006.

Full spec list would end up being quite long! There are a lot of period Nissan 'Sports Option' and race option parts on it, and it's fairly stripped out. Is there anything in particular you want to know? I could bore you for hours about it...!

Sorry for the late reply. Have been studying for my finals for the past 2 weeks. I'd be happy for you to tell me every little detail from the everyday experience to specification. smile I bet it sounds wonderful cloud9. Would also like to know what it was like importing from Japan. Any headaches so to speak?

What an excellent video! Beautifully filmed - i've seen too many over edited videos or car videos with an awful soundtrack and no engine noise. This had it just right, great shots that speak for themselves, good grade, some tasteful music here and there, and some great sounding engine notes! Sounded great on my laptop, i'll have to plug into my amp and play the video again and hear how it sounds on some real speakers.

I can take a few hours of this type of boredom! Was there much you needed to do when you got the car? Looking at babalouies resto thread, he seemed to have his work cut out. That aspect of it worries me - pay for a car and get a bit more of a 'project' than you thought you would!

Do you have any vids of it? Do you get it out on track very often?

Everyday experience consists largely of knowing ( or at least hoping... ) that it's sitting in the garage under a cover...!

Very easy import from Japan, as I had trustworthy friends on the Japanese side looking after the export right up to the point of putting it in a container. From then on it was with a trusted shipping firm, and I dealt with it all on the UK side. So pretty painless really.

I had actually known the car and seen it many times whilst it went through its refurb / resto at a friend's workshop in Japan before it became mine, and that's a very lucky and probably fairly unusual situation I think. One of the problems with buying a similar car in Japan would be that direct contact with the previous registered owner and any company who'd restored it / worked on it would be unlikely. In my case, being good friends with the previous owner and the guy who refurbed it allowed me to get most of the data / history with the car, and all the stories behind it. I can still go back to them for advice and parts, too.

Here's a shot from the workshop just after the reassembly after paint began:

As mentioned above, I didn't really need to do anything to the car when it arrived in the UK. However, I did do a few things and most of them were just preference things. It originally came with the early-type works oil cooler arrangement ( behind the sheetmetal ), but I pinched that ( original and very rare ) oil cooler for one of my other project cars, and fitted the mid-71 season style works external oil cooler arrangement with the mounts that doubled as quick-jack brackets. I also changed some of the interior details, the diff ( it's had a couple of different ratios now ) and some cosmetic stuff. Nothing major.

Doesn't get used very often because it's pretty much purely a track car in current spec, and a very loud one at that. It'll be at a couple of events this year I hope. Sorry, I don't have any videos of it except some fleeting glimpses of it from the offical 2008 Goodwood press day video:
