The balance of performance IMHO worked pretty well as in qualifying the leading ten cars were within three seconds. Refuelling took about the same time for every car.
Is it fair that the Porsche uses less fuel (because it is more efficient) - and so could refuel faster, but is given a fuel flow restrictor to slow down the refuelling compared to the Audi?

It is all part of the balance of performance: lap times and refuelling times should be about equal for each car. So the driving determines the outcome of the race. That's the reason for BoP, right? It's all in the interest of the spectators. They want close racing. What it was.

I have never believed in BOP or hadicapping success

Draw up teh regulations and let the best maufacturer or team exploit them as well as they can withing that framework

Falsely handicapping some cars because they are more efficient isnt good, IMO at least

Manthey Porsche had won 5 of the previous 6 races and would have won the 6th but for an errant backmarker in 2010

However none of those races were dull as a result, they werent always the outright pacesetters, though they were generally at or near the front. Like this year where they were contenders but never really looked able to run with the Audis becuase they were hampered in the pits.

Restrictive pit rules in recent years, like minimum length stops have detracted from the spectacle and eroded the difference between a good pit crew and a great one

I followed most of it on the sport auto stream + radio le mans. ADAC stream went off a few times on Sunday. Also for the night i followed the STI works impreza in car cam using the ustream live feed which was amazing. Was cheering for the impreza and once again it came through in a very high place finish winning it's class.

So if I enter in a (GT3 spec) Mini the other cars should be handicapped down to my level?

Or if I enter something with a 10 litre engine that drinks fuel the other cars will be forced to sit in the pits refuelling as long as me?

There needs to be a formula ... but racing between makes must include the ability for technical innovation as well as who's the best driver, IMHO.

Despite what happened to the McLarens, this pic from their blog has to have a chance at POTW?

This is my favourite. Kremer ran an absolutely flawless race, and I think their livery is also rather excellent smile.
