Which SUV for me?

I've covered about 10,000 miles in the year, only marginal wear on the front tyres. Overall, despite the footballer image and being frowned upon by Clarkson, great motor
Blimey, what are yours made of, granite?I run Goodyear DS3s and got 14k out of the first 2 sets. By 10k miles the wear was significant. But then I do press on - which may also be reflected in my mpg...
I agree about the car btw
4wd Qashqai+2? Comes with 7 seats... knock the back two seats down and it suddenly has a decent sized boot. Contemporary look, shape, can get one with delivery milage for 20k. Reliable as anything and perfectly fine on a motorway.
The new 1.5 diesel is cracking, the torque of a 2.0 but with better economy. Get the Tekna model and you get satnav, blue tooth, all the extras chucked in. If it's two people, dogs and camping gear, I think it is more than enough motor, and newer, more economical, has no badge snobbery, and there are thousands of them about.
A gunmetal grey one with roof rails and the big 18" onyx alloys really looks the part imo.

I would imagine the dogs would be a bit fed up in the back of a Qashquai, with their pokey back windows. Dont dogs like to have a look where they are going etcThe new 1.5 diesel is cracking, the torque of a 2.0 but with better economy. is the 1.5 diesel the same as the one in the juke? - if it is then is sounds like a bag of spanners, my neighbour has one, you can always tell when he's off to work!

Cool. Please get an extended test drive in everything. You will never get into the 30's mpg out of the XC90 in a million years.
Our average is typically 32mpg, mainly on B-roads and 35-38 on longer runs, 42 is the best. As it's only 4wd when needed it's much better than permanent 4wds like disco, merc, x5 etc.PhilboSE said:

They're not even premium tyres! (Cooper Discoverers). 4 brand new ones were on the car when I bought it, impressed with how well they're lasting, they're only £100 a corner apparently. What sort of money for a set of Goodyears out of interest?
Just replaced x 4...£1000 worse off. I don't mind though - we do big miles in the Q7, lugging a lot of stuff & family and I like to have good quality tyres.Never heard of the Cooper Discoverers - looking online I see lots of variants - which one do you have? A lot of them look like they're AT or M+S.
When it comes to SUVs, there can only be one logical choice.

I feel the will to live ebb out of me every time i have to drive the wifes lease Quashqai. The fact that she gets it cheap through her work brings me back from the edge. And there's plenty of badge snobbery as far as they are concerned. Commonly known as the cashdodge up here in Glasgow.

The Q7 and XC90 come with a third row of seats which I would never use,
What about the XC60 then? One of the Merc forum members I frequent has just bought one and he won't stop raving about it.Pity MB don't offer their mid-size SUV (GLK) in RHD, that might have been ideal. Although it is very ugly.

Q7 all day long for me. A very comfortable and well built interior for long trips and the 3.0l diesel has a lot of grunt. Covered 10k miles in mine through 5 countries over 12 months without a single mechanical fault too.
Biggest advantage judging by your posts is the space.....the Q7 is huge. I've dropped the back seats and 2 people have slept in mine before in comfort (I'm 5'11)
I've had my RR Sport less than 8 weeks & I am already wanting to chop it in for a facelift Q7; the Range Rover isn't half the machine the Q7 is.
Regarding costs:
- Service (Full 40k) £500
- 4 New tyres (21" Premium) £1050
- Full Tank £145
