My wife won't drive my car (an Impreza WRX Wagon) as it is too much of a "boys" car. This can be a bit annoying, as her current circumstances require a bit more space than her very girly Fiat 500 (red with red and white interior) and the Impreza would be ideal (apart from the high fuel consumption). Anyway, this isn't a what car thread! People often talk about cars being effeminate ("hairdresser's cars) or too girly but which cars out there are the most manly?

Although Imprezas, Evos, Skylines, fast Fords and the like tend to appeal more to men than woman and fair play to those women who do like/drive these vehicles but my definition of a manly car would tend to be more specific, as the cars above are so esy to drive quickly.

My definition of a manly car would be rear wheel drive, manual transmission, big NA petrol engine (preferably a V8), a minimum of nannying electronics and nothing too practical (a 4 door saloon/estate is potentially a bit too mumsy.

My initial thoughts would be in no particular order:
AC Cobra
Dodge Viper
Porsche 911 (930) Turbo
RWD Sierra RS Cosworth hatch
Capri 2.8i
M635 CSi
Triumph TR6
Aston Martin (bar the Cygnet)
TVR
Intercepter

as they would all require balls the size of spacehoppers to drive quickly!

However, the Audi Quattro and LR Defender are also very masculine cars.

Sorry if this has been done before but what do you think is (are) the most manly car(s) out there?

Most expensive cars. Your manliness is directly proportional to wallet size after all.

OP - I'll have to tell my wife about the WRX being a boys car. She went out looking for 'a little runabout' and came home with the WRX smile

She'll be pleased. smile

She doesn't drive my Cobra (scares the bejesus out of her) but does drive my Defender and seems quite at home in there actually.

The most manly car...

I suppose it depends what you consider manly. Fast, big capacity, ability, etc.

I was wrong, it must be a hairdresser's car then (no offence to your wife)! My wife's dream car is an Aston Martin actually!
