If it really is £250k to £300k that's more than a 959.....is it really worth that ? Maybe the 959 is cheap.......in fact the 959 must be cheap COYS sold one at auction last year for £150k according to their website. That makes the 4.0 RS sound expensive to me too!

What are you basing this on though? I suspect the "value" of cars at this sort of price level are based more on emotion then anything else. The 911 had better competition pedigree\results for a start and the 959 didn't exactly garner glowing praise, either on release or years later whereas the 993 GT2 is still counted amongst Porsches greats.

I could go further, why is an F40 of similiar vintage worth twice as much, why is a 2.8 RSR worth 4 times as much? Things like a cars technical ability or it's initial purchase price have little bearing on what they might be worth later on down the line.

Pure, automotive filth - the Razzle of all Porsches. That said, I'd prefer a 993 RS Clubsport in a similar hue (if one exists...) and a bit of change to spend on things like food.

All this talk of price speculation brings me to a point. Can we not have stories about things for sale from people not prepared to publicly declare a price for them please? Lovely car, but unless Harris has been lent it for some video footage and this is a quid pro quo then I think that the free publicity warrants the full sale details...?

I don't know enough about Porsche's competition history but the 959 won Paris/Dakar and also won it's class at Le Mans....did the 993 GT2 really do much better than that ? The 959 was basically the ultimate expression of a 911 at the times so not sure you can say the 911 having better competition results.

Value of cars is definitely based on emotion but when you look back at the technology leap the 959 made at the time for Porsche, the limited run of only 200 odd cars to me it does seem good value compared to say the 997 4.0 RS which whilst a brilliant car will probably be bettered by the 991...Porsche will surely try to.

As the other chap said.....and I think I have read somewhere before the parts for the 959 are mind numbingly expensive so maybe that's the reason for it's price.

Actually have just watched this video of a certain Mr Harris comparing the 959 v 288 GTO back in his EVO days. He describes it as "possibly a slow burner for the future" and also refers to the very high running costs accounting for it's price.

it ironic that a lot of these cars built for speed end up doing no miles and becoming trophies. no interior marks not bodged wings, is what attracts people to them.

These type of cars need battle scars, and mileage, to have such a car and never use it just seems plain stupid. But that is what these uber cars become collectable trophies..

A gt3rs is probably about as quick an a lot tamer to drive though.

Lucky enough to have driven one of these when I was an apprentice Porsche tech. We used to look after two. One of which had 47,000 miles when I last saw it in about 2003 having even been transported to Australia for a few events. Also lucky enough to have driven a right hand drive rsr, in my view an even more special car with apparently just 8 rhd examples in the uk.

I wouldn't be surprised if the seller of this car and the other Porsche's the guy that owns Hexagon Classics himself....I know he owns some serious cars including this Porsche 962

only raated it 9/10 because I'm struggling with the orange, Riviera blue however...

997GT3RS up there with this even in viper green...aside 911 driving experience is totally addictive, hardcore versions just take it to another level... once you're smitten....

the razzle of all Porsches..brilliant..its why I am a member of Pistonheads..and on my favourite car...oh yeah..
