RE: Dany Bahar suspended

I like where Bahar was trying to take Lotus with the new models. Sure, I think it was inevitable that some things had to change with the proposed lineup, but there was/is plenty of room to fall short and still be a success.
I love that he was going back to genuine Lotus engines.
The Swizz Beatz criticisms continue to puzzle me. First, I think the car looks nice. Second, it's harmless, at worst.
The problem (or one of the problems) was that the Bahar plan called for a £500m investment with no guarantee (some might say little chance) of success. £500m is a lot of money.I love that he was going back to genuine Lotus engines.

I must see 30 Astons a day when I'm driving around London, as for Porsche, they just blend in with the black cabs as parts of the streets. That may make no sense to many of you here, but charm is an odd thing to define, but Lotus still has it, just not sure I wanted to see them bin it in an effort to be more Porsche-like.
I'd rather Lotus offered a couple of brilliant cars which were bought in 1000s worldwide and see it become a company that you could be genuinely proud of, instead we have the utter embarrassment that they are here today nowHellbound said:
Label me ignorant, but any company that promotes its product in a Bond movie is appealing to the 'luxury' sector. By its very nature, luxury also means exclusive.
In any case, there's so much about Lotus that could be seen as luxury I'm not even going to press the matter further.
You and I have very different understandings of the level the Asian market would deem as 'luxury'In any case, there's so much about Lotus that could be seen as luxury I'm not even going to press the matter further.
I know nothing about Lotus really, so maybe an outsiders perspective may be useful (not too close to it to be myopic?).
An old Bond movie is just that, old. It has no bearing on my interests of today. Was that movie made 20 years ago? Not sure, but it certainly isnt recent.
I have always thought Lotus had dodgy quality. If this has improved, then the message hasnt got out in a way that fringe buyers might hear.
The last few cars are exactly the same. If there ARE any new aspects, again, the PR hasnt gotten through.
Rightly or wrongly, my view is that Lotus are a brand who produce poor quality products, and whom are trying to climb into a different class. It makes me think of the phrase "learn to walk before you can run".
I have ZERO interest in Lotus, and would not consider it.

As a long time Lotus follower, I think I speak for many when I ask/scream/demand to know WHY LOTUS SINCE ITS INCEPTION SEEMS TO BE APPARENTLY CURSED!?!
FFS, move the hell over, fly me in there and i'll run the g'damn company! I'll get Lotus Cars/Co. nice and PROPER!
What it should be! What it deserves to be!

4. Attempting to lamely link a musician to a car is pathetic and desperate, at best.
The only exception to "4" is Nick Mason because he has a genuine link to a genuine premium brand car, and is a genuine music legend, unlike Swooz Boast or whatever which is clearly a marketing ploy only, and has nothing to do with the actual car.
I hate to break it to you, but they all do it; even your beloved Yardstick:The only exception to "4" is Nick Mason because he has a genuine link to a genuine premium brand car, and is a genuine music legend, unlike Swooz Boast or whatever which is clearly a marketing ploy only, and has nothing to do with the actual car.

They have to. Hip-Hop culture and "bling" pervades all society these days; supercars are no longer the preserve of your besuited aristocrat who prefer Mozart to Minaj.
If you have a non-bling product in times/markets where the mainstream is bling, you can do 2 things -
Try and become bling like the rest of them - that have a far better suited product as well as the marketing budgets and production volumes to serve the mainstream markets
Position yourself as the anti-bling alternative for the discerning/mature (in terms of product experience) customer.
In a world that craves authenticity from their brands, trying to be something that you patently aren't makes sure you're seen as pathethic by both your existing core market as the one you are so desperately trying to reach.

In reply to a few comments made above;
How many times have Ferrari, Lamborghini, Range Rover etc been mentioned in Hip Hop music and shown in Hip Hop videos? In fact I seem to remember Lamborghini giving Akon a Gallardo. Has that harmed any of the myriad of brands which have appeared in such things? No it hasn't.
You're probably quite old but let me tell you, there's a big difference between Akon and Swizz Beats...How many times have Ferrari, Lamborghini, Range Rover etc been mentioned in Hip Hop music and shown in Hip Hop videos?
